Bear Mattress Models

Science isn’t just telling us how important sleep is to physical performance; it’s yelling at us. The people behind Bear mattresses listened well when they took on the challenge to design a great foam mattress for an active lifestyle.

The experts there consulted others all over the world to design a memory foam mattress they feel is universally comfortable, sleeps cool and increases your energy.

They ran past tried-and-true efforts by incorporating heat-absorbing gels to keep sleepers cool. They also added fiber technology into the outside fabric, a fiber that has been scientifically proven to help muscles recover from the stress and exertion of the day.

The Bear mattress took the best part of a foam mattress—its ability to contour to your body—and amped everything up by using four different levels of foam. They built a mattress meant to align the spine and erase painful pressure points no matter what position you sleep in.

The Best Bear Mattress by Sleeping Positions

Before starting your search for the perfect mattress, it is important to take into account your body type and favorite sleep position. A mattress that might work for a medium size side sleeper, will probably not work for a lightweight stomach sleeper. This is because each sleep position requires different pressure, materials, and firmness in a mattress to support their sleeping needs.

If you want to find the most comfortable mattress for your sleeping style then you’re in luck! In this mattress review, we will talk about which Bear mattresses will work best for back, side, and stomach sleepers.

Back Sleepers

Recommended: Bear or Bear Hybrid

Back sleepers should feel plenty of support from the combination of layers at work. The top will cradle your hips and the bottom will support the mattress so you’re not sinking into it.

Side Sleepers

Recommended: Bear Hybrid

The Bear is on the firmer side of the medium firm. If you’re carrying extra weight, the memory foam will do good work contouring to your curves. If you’re lighter, you may feel too much pressure on your hips and shoulders. It may lead to morning soreness or too much shifting at night.

Stomach Sleepers

Recommended: Bear

The Bear does a good job for stomach sleepers. The top layer has plenty of give to contour to your tummy without smothering you face-first into the mattress. Your spine will stay aligned. You need to keep your spine straight sleep well.

Bear Mattress Construction

The Bear mattress is a four-layer memory foam mattress that comes in at 10-inches thick. It has five key elements that are meant to work especially for athletes that need to recover after a workout or competition. It has four different foam layers that provide cooling, bounce and comfort, contouring pressure relief and core support.

  • The Cover: Celliant fibers worked into the cover help your body recover faster. The cover absorbs body heat and reflects infrared light that encourages blood flow and circulation. You need those things to be at play if you’ve had a hard workout or long hike and need TLC for your bones and tissues.
  • Layer 1: The first layer of foam is injected with graphite gel, which helps absorb heat. Memory foam has always taken a bad rap for sleeping too hot. The gel will help keep you cool.
  • Layer 2: The second layer of foam can be described as “response” foam because it has some bounce. That bounce will help relieve pressure on hips, shoulders, and back and keeps your spine in good alignment.
  • Layer 3: The third layer of foam is a transitional layer. It also enhances the way the mattress relieves pressure on key parts of your body. Working with the second layer, it helps relieve pressure while also easing the mattress into the supportive layer below. You won’t just sink from the softer layers into the dense support layer with this third slap in between.
  • Layer 4: The fourth layer is the densest. It is the support layer for strength and durability.

Bear Hybrid Mattress Construction

The Bear Hybrid Mattress is a six-layer memory foam mattress that comes in at 14 inches thick. It has six main characteristics to help relieve joint and muscle pressure and keep sleepers cool all night long. It has four different foam layers that help provide constant support and comfort.

  • Layer 1: The hand-quilted celliant fibers help to create an overall sense of wellbeing throughout your body by helping your muscles recover faster. Similar to the original Bear mattress it helps to absorb heat and blocks infrared light to help circulation so you can get back to your active lifestyle faster than ever before.
  • Layer 2: The second layer is a hypersoft cooling-gel foam that creates a cloud-like experience and helps keep sleepers cool all night long.
  • Layer 3: The third section is a layer of premium comfort foam that allows the mattress to adapt to any sleeping position or body type that it comes in contact with.
  • Layer 4: Next is a layer of responsive transition foam that allows for air to flow throughout the mattress, which helps to keep you cooler than ever in combination with the cooling gel foam. This layer also helps to relieve pressure from all areas of the body.
  • Layer 5: The fifth layer is constructed from quantum edge coil systems that support edges and create optimal spinal alignment during the night.
  • Layer 6: The last layer consists of high-density support foam to help your mattress stay in tip-top shape and durable to years to come.

The Bear Buying Experience

Bear Mattress Trial Period

Bear gives you 100 days to experience the mattress. If you want to send the mattress back before the 100 days expire, Bear will send someone out to pick it up. The company will also give you a full refund.

Because sleeping on memory foam is so different for people used to a traditional mattress, Bear asks all customers to use the bed for at least 30 days to adjust to the feel before deciding or asking for a return. This is actually good advice for anyone with a new mattress.

Bear Mattress Warranty

Bear mattresses come with a 10-year limited warranty, which is fairly standard in the mattress industry. The mattress cover with the special fibers is under warranty for one year.

If the mattress itself is deemed defective during the first 10 years of use by the original owner, Bear will pay for the repair or replacement of the mattress, though they won’t pay for handling or shipping.

Bear will repair sags or indentations that are greater than 1 inch that wasn’t caused by something wrong with the foundation. They will also deal with any flaw in design or production that caused the memory foam to crack or split that has nothing to do with normal wear and tear.

Because Bear recommends you use the mattress on a flat foundation, they will only honor the warranty if you use one.

Delivery and Setup

Bear ships its boxed mattresses to the lower 48 states within 4 to 7 business days. The mattresses arrive compressed and rolled into a box. They don’t offer old mattress removal.

You will set up your own mattress. Bear suggests you use the buddy system to do it. You take it out of the box, unroll it and place it on top of your foundation. Then you wait for it to expand to its full size.

Customer Service

You can reach Bear— by phone or by a quick email generated on the Bear website — throughout the business week. Because they have factories in different parts of the country you will normally be able to get your questions answered when you need them answered.

Bear prices its products at the affordable end of the scale without compromising on quality. They put a lot of thought into what a professional athlete and anyone living an active lifestyle, would need to get the best night’s sleep and the best chance to physically recover in time for the next game or workout.

Your body does work to repair overworked muscles and tissues while it sleeps. Bear’s use of Celliant fibers is meant to enhance that process. And the graphite gel infused into the first of our memory foam layers keeps you cool. A cool body more easily stays in the prime recovery zone.

If knowing a mattress company has put that much thought into their product moves you, then you should choose a Bear mattress.

You can also purchase accessories like a cooling pillow with the same Celliant fiber recovery technology, a waterproof mattress protector, an adjustable foundation and a frame at prices up to another $350 depending on the items and sizes. Keep an eye out for specials like the Bear Bundle, which gives you a cut-rate when you buy at least two accessories.
