Beautyrest 2018 Comparison Guide

As you may have figured out, the same mattress can be sold under different names at different retailers. Other times, a retailer will have minor “exclusive” features to make it even more confusing. The following is a guide to comparing this year’s Simmons Beautyrest models between different retailers.

Beautyrest has three main levels: Silver, Platinum, and Black.

Beautyrest Silver

The Beautyrest Silver is the “entry level” to the Beautyrest line, which is the flagship line of the Simmons brand. (They also have the “Beauty Sleep” collection, which is a step down and is more suited to guest rooms or temporary use).

As of writing this, Beautyrest is still using the Silver models that came out in 2017 (they came out with new Platinum models early this year). I will update this article with new information if new Silver models get released. The following is a chart comparing Silver models at some of the bigger retailers:

Beautyrest Platinum

Beautyrest came out with new Platinum models this year. Compared to the 2017 models, the 2018 models are very similar. The foams up top were rearranged a bit, but they use the same coil system underneath. (Some retailers are still using the 2017 models. I will update this chart as new retailers start carrying the 2018 models. See my 2017 chart if your model is not on the list)

Beautyrest Black

These are a small step above the Platinum models. Since they tend to be sold under the same name everywhere, I don’t have a name comparison list. The models are the same as they were in 2017 for now, but I will update this with more information if that changes.

About the charts

Here are a few comments about the above charts:

  • The models might not be identical; merely comparable. For example, Macy’s has an exclusive lineup in which there are some small differences. For example, they use a thin layer of titanium in the center third of the bed. It’s barely noticeable, but it exists. The foams and cover may be a little different from the national brands, too.
  • Mattress Firm is a major retailer (and I am an affiliate for them), but their Beautyrest lineup is largely comprised of exclusives and models that came out in 2015. I have more information about that in my Mattress Firm Comparison Shopping article.
  • When comparing prices, be sure to pick all of the same options (i.e. same size, same boxspring,) and take into consideration tax and delivery.
  • If all of this seems too complicated or time-consuming, consider buying a Tomorrow Sleep, which is made by Serta Simmons Bedding (maker of the Beautyrest). You get a mattress from the same company you came here looking for, but they have an easy return policy if you don’t like it, and it’s a pretty good value for the money. You can see my Tomorrow Sleep review here or click here to shop for a Tomorrow hybrid mattress.

Hello - After months and months of research and trips to stores, I have narrowed down our choice to the Beautyrest Luxury Firm Spring Grove or Luxury Firm Haven Pines. These mattresses are significantly cheaper in Home Depot than Macys ( model names Chestnut Hill and Cedar Ridge). Macys prices fluctuate abut $100 from sale to sale. I have two concerns. Is the Haven Pines worth the extra cost and is Home Depot a dependable distributor should there be a problem with the mattress.

A lot has changed in the past 8 years, so it won't be the same mattress, but the most similar one would be the Spring Grove Luxury Firm and ones in that row on my comparison chart.

My husband and I have a Beautyrest Tresback Plush Firm Super Pillowtop and love it. We want to upgrade to a King and are wondering if there is any comparable mattress made today. Thank you!

I purchased a Beautyrest Luxury , 15 years ago and was very happy with it. I would like to know the equivalent Beautyrest today. Unfortunately, I purchased a Beautyrest Silver Wavecrest three days ago and been having back discomfort ever since. Sears informed me I have to keep the mattress for 30 days before I can exchange it. I never had any back discomfort before now. I need help.

It's accurate. Macy's tends to inflate their prices ahead of big sales (like Memorial Day coming up), so they can claim that their model is "50% off." Whereas US Mattress might do something like 10% off (and still be a better deal).

Hey man, We've done some shopping around the Beautyrest black and platinums and your above chart was very helpful. Thank you. We really like the Platinum Preferred Cedar Ridge 16" Luxury Firm Pillow Top Mattress Set - California King at Macy's. Here is a link: https://www.macys.com/shop/product/beautyrest-platinum-preferred-cedar-ridge-16-luxury-firm-pillow-top-mattress-set-california-king?ID=5827404&CategoryID=97743 If your chart is correct though, this model from US-mattress is nearly identical and MUCH MUCH less. https://www.us-mattress.com/simmons-wc-tillingham-lux-fm-pt-cal-king.html#TurnToReviewsContent I guess I'm just double checking that I'm reading this right because it doesn't seem accurate. Most of the models we were looking at seemed to hold the same price around the internet. But these two prices are very very different. Thank, MN.

We have a Beautyrest Adriana that is 10 to 12 years old. We purchased it from Macy’s. We are looking for the closest thing to replace it with. Can you help?

It is not "nearly identical." Every spec is different. It uses different coils and different foams. It'll have a similar overall feel. But the actual specifications of the mattress are very different. I go into the Black Hybrids a little here: https://www.mattressnerd.com/how-to-comparison-shop-at-mattress-firm/

Hi there, So the guy at Mattress Firm was trying to sell me a King size Beautyrest Black Hybrid Plus Plush for $3440. I did some research and found that the Beautyrest Platinum Hybrid Vanity Plus was nearly identical, but costs almost $2000 less ($1575 at US Mattress)... How much of a difference am I really going to notice?

What other mattresses compare to the Beautyrest Salina Silver Hybrid Plush mattress sold by Costco? Does it have another name from a different store?

What is Beautyrest retail equivalent to their Hospitality line? We really liked a hotel bed and found out it was a Capital Peak Plush which is the older model of the Saint Chapelle Plush. I'm being told it's the Phillipsburg line. Can you confirm?

Any idea where the Beautyrest Silver Harper series falls within these categories? I can't find it on these lists and I'd like to buy a King version. Is it the same as Kenosha Place or Lydia Manor? Also, what's the difference between Level 1 and 2? Thanks!
