How Does the Sam’s Club Tuft & Needle Mattress Feel?

If you love sleeping on a really firm mattress, The Sam’s Club X Tuft & Needle is a good fit for you. In fact, that’s one of the main differences that sets it apart from the Tuft & Needle flagship mattress available on T&N’s website—this design is a bit firmer than that model.
While the Sam’s Club X Tuft & Needle is not the absolute firmest mattress we’ve ever tried, it’s a solid 7–8/1010 on our firmness scale. That makes it great for lightweight to average-weight back sleepers who want a solid, stabilizing mattress and aren’t too worried about softness or cradling their joints.
If you’re on the heavier side, the mattress might be a bit too thin to keep you properly supported for years and years. We’d recommend looking for a firm mattress specifically designed for plus-size sleepers.

Temperature
Though the original Tuft & Needle has cooling gel and charcoal mixed into its foam for extra cooling, the Sam’s Club version of the T&N doesn’t have those measures. Moreover, though the company’s website calls the foam layers “breathable,” you can unzip the mattress and see that they’re still simply flat layers of foam.

If you’re a lightweight or average-weight back sleeper, the Sam’s Club X Tuft & Needle mattress should support and distribute your weight evenly across your back. During the night, the mattress should keep your shoulders and hips properly elevated.
If you’re a heavyweight sleeper (above 230 lbs), you might experience more of that “sinking” when you lay on your back on this mattress. A mattress that’s 10” thick, like the Sam’s Club X Tuft & Needle, simply may not have enough layers of material to help you feel supported for years.
