Deciding Between DreamCloud Premier & Saatva

Firmness / Feel

All mattresses are measured on a firmness scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the most firm. Depending on your sleep position, you’ll want a mattress with the right firmness level to ensure you get proper support and pressure relief. Side sleepers need softer mattresses while back and stomach sleepers desire something on the firmer side.

The Saatva Classic Mattress comes in three firmness levels: Plush Soft, which rates at a 3/10 and is great for side sleepers; Luxury Firm, which is better for side or back sleepers; and Firm, which will suit stomach or back sleepers. The DreamCloud is a medium-firm mattress that’s rated at 6/10 and is a decent option for side or back sleepers. The layers of the DreamCloud also included point activated to support that better relieves pressure points and contours around the body.

Motion Isolation

When you change positions in bed, or if you decide to get in or out of bed, the motion can travel across the mattress, potentially disturbing your partner. The best mattresses for couples offer superior motion isolation. The Saatva Classic’s Luxury Firm and Firm options offer great motion isolation, while the DreamCloud isn’t known for reducing motion transfer as well. However, the DreamCloud does include a supportive foam layer to reduce disturbances from a partner’s movement.

Edge Support

Getting in and out of bed without adequate edge support can take a toll on your back, especially as you get older. Certain mattresses have a higher level of edge support that will reduce sagging and retain proper edge support throughout their lifespan, making the transition from sitting to standing when getting out of your bed much easier.

The coil systems in both mattresses provide quality edge support so couples can utilize the entire mattress to sleep on. The DreamCloud includes heavy-duty coils with double-row rim support, and the Saatva Classic’s Luxury Firm and Firm options offer great edge support as well.

Pressure Relief

Not all mattresses provide sleepers with the right amount of pressure relief. If you’re tired of waking up with aches and pains, you’ll need to carefully choose the right mattress that will cradle your pressure points and ensure you get a comfortable night’s rest.

Both mattresses deliver a solid amount of pressure relief, but the Saatva’s varying firmness levels allow it to cater even more to a wider range of sleep personalities. The softer foam layers will contour around the hips and shoulders, allowing the sleeper to sink into the mattress.

Spine Alignment

The key to a good night’s rest is optimal spinal alignment. Depending on your sleep position, your body will require a specific type of support to align your spine. For instance, back and stomach sleepers need firmer mattresses to keep the spine aligned and hold the hips on top of the mattress. The DreamCloud Mattress helps promote spinal alignment for back and side sleepers, while the Saatva Classic offers spinal alignment for all kinds of sleepers (depending on which firmness option you choose).

Durability

Over time, your mattress may lose its shape and structure, which is why you want to pick a sleep option with a high amount of durability and support. Both mattresses have a high level of durability, and both have warranties on the higher end of the industry standard. Those who shop with DreamCloud enjoy a lifetime warranty, while Saatva’s warranty lasts 20 years.

Temperature

Many people face the issue of sleeping “hot,” which is why they want a mattress with cooling technology to keep their temperature regulated at night. The Saatva Classic will keep you cool with a dual-coil system to increase airflow, similar to that of the DreamCloud.  The DreamCloud goes the extra mile with its gel memory foam and perforated latex layers to encourage airflow.

DreamCloud PRemier Construction

The DreamCloud Mattress has a quilted Euro-top layer made of memory foam that conforms to the body. The next layer is made of gel memory foam to promote additional comfort, pressure relief, and cooling. The following layer is made of supportive foam that transitions to the coil layer underneath.

The 8-inch pocketed coil layer acts as a primary support framework for the mattress and provides you with excellent support. Finally, the base layer helps the mattress keep its shape and structure for years to come. The total mattress height is 15 inches.

Saatva Construction

The Saatva Classic Mattress’s top layer is an organic cotton pillow top that is carefully designed with an antimicrobial solution to keep your mattress cool and free of bacteria. The memory foam layer below it relieves pressure on your lower back and hips. After that, you’ll find a layer made of individually wrapped steel comfort coils that conform to your body’s unique shape.

The base layer at the bottom of the mattress features main support coils that mimic the feel and firmness of your traditional innerspring mattress and provide you with extra support and durability. The typical Saatva Classic Mattress measures 11.5 inches, but the extra-tall version is 14.5 inches.
