The Mattress Nerd’s Take: The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a luxury hybrid mattress that aims to be comfortable but supportive. It features a quilted pillow top and has great motion isolation, responsiveness, and durability. This mattress felt softer than promised—good for lightweight to average-weight side sleepers, but not firm enough for heavyweight sleepers.

How Does the DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress Feel?

We rated this mattress at 4.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. This means the DreamCloud Premier Rest has a softer firmness level, making it ideal for side sleepers and combination sleepers. Stomach sleepers might prefer a more firm feel—find more options in our ranking of best firm mattresses.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest’s gel memory foam and layer of individually wrapped coils are designed to circulate airflow within this hybrid mattress and keep you cool and comfortable as you sleep.

However some body heat is still trapped by the thick foam layer above the coils, reducing the cooling effect. So, we rated the mattress’s temperature control at 3 out of 5, because the coils do help with airflow but not as effectively as other mattresses. If you sleep hot, you might want to consider a more cooling mattress.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a hybrid mattress that promises both softness and support. With several layers of foam and a layer of innerspring coils intended to provide support, this mattress should do this for lightweight to average-weight side sleepers and back sleepers. Heavyweight sleepers and stomach sleepers probably won’t get enough support from the DreamCloud Premier Rest.

Additionally, the DreamCloud Premier Rest has good edge support, which also contributes to it’s great durability.

Back Sleepers

Being a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud Premier Rest can help support back sleepers’ alignment throughout the night. This is a good mattress for lightweight and average-weight back sleepers, especially those who prefer a slightly softer feel. But heavyweight back sleepers might want a firmer mattress to ensure they will be well supported. For other mattresses options, see the best mattresses for back sleepers.

Stomach Sleepers

For lightweight, average-weight, and heavyweight stomach sleepers, the DreamCloud Premier Rest will likely be too soft and not supportive enough to keep the hips aligned throughout the night, which can lead to back pain. See our ranking of best mattresses for stomach sleepers for more supportive options.

Side Sleepers

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a soft mattress, making it an excellent choice for lightweight and average-weight side sleepers. The pillow top and memory foam are helpful for cushioning your hips and shoulders while you sleep.

Heavyweight side sleepers or sleepers with more sensitive joints might want a more supportive mattress. Explore other mattress options in our ranking of best mattresses for side sleepers.

Combination Sleepers

This hybrid mattress is a good option for lightweight and average-weight combination sleepers who switch between sleeping on their side and sleeping on their back, as it is soft enough for side sleepers but does offer some support to keep the body aligned while sleeping on your back.

We found moving around on the DreamCloud Premier Rest to be very easy and comfortable, even though it is quite soft. This means your sleep will be less disrupted as you change sleeping positions during the night.

Because it is a softer mattress, the DreamCloud Premier Rest might not be the best option for heavyweight combination sleepers, as a heavier body weight can lead to sinking in too deeply. To find firmer options, see our ranking of best mattresses for combination sleepers.

Lightweight (< 130 lbs):  4 2 5
Average weight (130 – 230 lbs): 3 1 5
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs):  2 1 4

1 = Very poor, 2 = Not good, 3 = Fair, 4 = Good, 5 = Excellent

Does It Fit Your Lifestyle?

For couples looking for a soft, cloud-like mattress, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is a great option to bring that extra luxury to your sleeping experience. We found that this mattress had excellent motion isolation, which will help you sleep interruption-free even if your partner tosses and turns or gets up frequently in the night.

Additionally, this mattress is suitable for different sleep positions, so it’s a great compromise if one partner is a back sleeper and one is a side sleeper, for instance.

For older buyers, the DreamCloud Premier Rest has some pros and cons. One of the great pros for seniors is the edge support, which can ensure that getting in and out of the bed is easy to do. This is particularly helpful because this mattress is softer, so that edge support will help to keep you from sinking into the mattress too much.

However, if your joints have become more sensitive as you’ve gotten older, the DreamCloud Premier Rest may not work well for you. The mattress didn’t offer the best pressure relief in our tests, so it could lead to frustration with joint pain.

Construction: What’s Under the Surface?

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a hybrid mattress with coils and layers of memory foam. This mattress also features a pillow top with a cashmere cover. The DreamCloud Premier Rest is CertiPUR-US certified, meaning the foams meet the standards for content, emissions, and durability.

Layer #1 & 2: Luxury Cashmere-Blend Cover: This plush, cashmere-covered pillow top adds extra comfort and softness, making this mattress more luxurious than the original DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier.

Layer #3: Pillow Top Support Layer: Underneath the cashmere cover is a 1” top layer of soft foam, making the pillow top both plush and supportive.

Layer #4: Pressure Relief Comfort Layer: 2.5″ of contouring soft foam offers support and pressure point relief, which can be helpful for side sleepers or those with sensitive joints.

Layer #5: Enhanced Support Layer: Another 2″ of support foam adds resistance and provides a buffer from the support coil layer below.

Layer #6: Targeted-Support Coil Layer: This layer features 8.5″ of pocketed coils, which helps promote airflow in the mattress.

Layer #7: Stability-Focused Base Layer: This bottom layer is 1” of supportive foam that ensures all the layers above perform to the best of their ability.

How Do the Policies Measure Up?

Shipping & Unboxing

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is delivered compressed and rolled into a box. The mattress ships in seven to 14 business days and takes another two to five business days for delivery. Shipping is free in the U.S., except for Hawaii and Alaska. DreamCloud Sleep offers a white glove delivery option to set up your new mattress and coordinate the removal of your old mattress for $149.

Unboxing the DreamCloud Premier Rest was easy for our team and only took about a minute. However, the mattress did have a noticeable off-gassing smell and took some time to expand after unboxing.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest comes with a Lifetime Warranty that covers repair or replacement of the mattress due to damage from normal use. This applies for the duration of the original purchaser’s ownership.

Trial Period & Returns

DreamCloud offers a 365-night trial period, starting from the day the mattress is delivered. This allows a full year to decide if the mattress is right for you, much longer than the standard 100-night trial period many other mattress companies offer. If you decide to return the mattress, DreamCloud will offer a full refund.

Returning the DreamCloud Premier Rest is free and DreamCloud will coordinate the removal of your mattress to be donated or properly disposed of. If you decide to return your DreamCloud Premier Rest, all you have to do is contact your DreamCloud Sleep Concierge to start the process.

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress FAQs

Is the DreamCloud Premier Rest worth the extra money?

What separates the DreamCloud Premier Rest from the other DreamCloud mattresses is its quilted, cashmere-covered pillow top. It is much softer than the original DreamCloud mattress, so if you are looking for a more plush mattress, the DreamCloud Premier Rest might be worth it for you.

How long does a DreamCloud Premier Rest mattress last?

DreamCloud mattresses are designed to last seven to 10 years, which is the standard for mattresses. But if your mattress is damaged through normal use during the course of your ownership, DreamCloud’s Lifetime Warranty will replace or repair the mattress at no additional cost to you.

Comparing the DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress vs. The DreamCloud Mattress

The DreamCloud is the original, least expensive mattress from the DreamCloud brand. It is also a hybrid mattress but has only five layers, as opposed to the DreamCloud Premier Rest’s seven. It has a similar luxury appearance, also featuring a cashmere cover. However, we found the original DreamCloud to be medium-firm, much firmer than the luxury DreamCloud Premier Rest.

DreamCloud Mattress

This hybrid mattress mixes memory foam and individually pocketed innerspring coils to deliver pressure-relieving support, especially for back and stomach sleepers. At a generous 15 inches tall with a quilted foam and cashmere cover, the DreamCloud exudes a plush, luxury hotel feel.

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress vs. The DreamCloud Premier Mattress

The DreamCloud Premier is the mid-range mattress offered by the DreamCloud brand. It is built similarly to the DreamCloud Premier Rest, but with one layer fewer, and features a Euro-top instead of a pillow top. Like the DreamCloud Premier Rest, we found the DreamCloud Premier to work well for side sleepers and felt there are better options for stomach sleepers and heavyweight sleepers.

DreamCloud Premier

This luxury hybrid mattress comes with cradling technology and plush comfort that most sleepers love. If you're looking for a cushy yet supportive mattress with all the right features, the DreamCloud Premier could be the mattress for you.

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress vs. Helix Midnight Mattress

The Helix Midnight is a hybrid mattress like the DreamCloud Premier Rest but is shorter at 12” tall and comes with just three foam layers, plus one layer of individually wrapped coils. Our team found the Helix Midnight to be firmer than the DreamCloud Premier Rest, rating it at 6 out of 10. Both mattresses have strong motion isolation and good edge support, making them durable and great for couples.

However, the Helix Midnight only comes with a 10-year limited warranty and a 100-night sleep trial period, as compared with DreamCloud’s Lifetime Warranty and 365-night sleep trial period.

Helix Midnight

The Helix Midnight provides tailored support and a medium-firmness feel geared specifically for side sleepers. The hybrid construction promotes airflow to keep you cool, while the foam layers provide cradling and support where you need it.

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress vs. Saatva Classic Mattress

The Saatva Classic is a hybrid mattress available in two thicknesses and three different levels of firmness: plush soft, luxury firm, and firm. These customizable options make the Saatva a better choice for stomach sleepers, heavyweight sleepers, or anyone who needs the support of a firmer mattress. We also found the Saatva to be a better choice for hot sleepers than the DreamCloud Premier Rest, rating it at 5 out of 5 for temperature control.

But, the DreamCloud Premier Rest may be a better option for couples and light sleepers, as it performs much better at motion isolation than the Saatva. Still, both mattresses are durable and of high quality, making them likely to last for a long time.

Saatva Classic

Saatva is one of the first direct-to-consumer online mattress companies. The Saatva mattress is not a “bed-in-a-box” company, because it doesn’t come in a box at all. It’s a regular innerspring mattress delivered to your door by delivery professionals.

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress vs. Purple Mattress

The Purple mattress is a unique mattress, constructed of foam and hyper-elastic polymer in their signature grid layer, designed to create a “floating” sensation. Much like the DreamCloud Premier Rest, we think the Purple mattress is well suited for back sleepers. We rate the Purple to be firmer, at 6.5 out of 10, but the Purple Smart Grid helps the mattress to strategically conform to your body, as well as relieve pressure.

Neither the Purple nor the DreamCloud Premier Rest are strong options for stomach sleepers and heavyweight sleepers. But, we did find the Purple to be a better choice for hot sleepers than the DreamCloud Premier Rest, thanks to its grid that helps air flow through the mattress to keep you cool. Additionally, the Purple mattress comes in at a much lower price point than the DreamCloud Premier Rest, making it a better option for budget shoppers.

Purple Mattress

The Purple mattress is perfect for value-seekers who prefer a temperature-neutral mattress with a floating feel, thanks to its special 2" Purple Grid and dual-layered comfort foam.

  • Motion Isolation: We found the DreamCloud Premier Rest had great motion isolation, which prevents motion transfer when a partner tosses and turns, a pet jumps into bed, or any other movement on the mattress occurs. This ensures that light sleepers won’t be disturbed by motion, making this mattress a great choice for anyone who shares a bed.
  • Long Lasting: The DreamCloud is a very durable mattress with strong edge support, which will help maintain the shape and integrity of the mattress over time. And if you do encounter any issues with your DreamCloud Premier Rest, the Lifetime Warranty can cover the repair or replacement of your mattress.
  • Easy Set-up: Unboxing the DreamCloud Premier Rest was super easy for our team—the mattress basically unboxed itself. The whole process took about a minute. And if you need some extra help, DreamCloud offers their white glove delivery to set up your new mattress and remove your existing one for an additional fee.

  • Not Very Firm: DreamCloud rates this mattress as a “luxury firm” mattress that is comfortable but supportive. However, we found this mattress to be much softer than anticipated. For heavyweight sleepers, stomach sleepers, or sleepers who prefer a firm mattress, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is likely to be too soft.
  • Weak Pressure Relief: Pressure relief was our lowest rated category for the DreamCloud Premier Rest, only 2.5 out of 5. This means that we felt significant pressure build up on sensitive areas, such as hips and shoulders. While overall we think this mattress will work well for side sleepers, those who are heavier or who have sensitive joints might not find the support they need with the DreamCloud Premier Rest.
  • Luxury Price: As a luxury mattress, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is pricier than many other mattresses in the bed-in-a-box market. For budget shoppers, there are more affordable options available.

What’s the Bottom Line?

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a high quality, luxury mattress that delivers on softness and comfort. It is a great mattress for couples and for lightweight to average-weight side sleepers, back sleepers, or combination sleepers. However, it isn’t as firm as promised, meaning it won’t have enough support for stomach sleepers or heavyweight sleepers, and it doesn’t offer much pressure relief

If you want a plush, cloud-like mattress with a luxury feel, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is a great option and with the company’s Lifetime Warranty and 365-night sleep trial, you have plenty of time to decide if the DreamCloud Premier Rest is the right mattress for you.
