Nectar vs. DreamCloud Mattress Comparison

If you’ve been torn between the Nectar and DreamCloud Premier mattress, you’re in the right place. Check out our mattress comparison and uncover which one is the best mattress for you.

Comparing Nectar & DreamCloud Premier

The Nectar and the DreamCloud Premier certainly aren’t identical: The Nectar is an all-foam mattress, while the DreamCloud Premier is a hybrid mattress made from both memory foam and coils. Each mattress is firm enough to accommodate back sleepers, yet offers enough plush comfort for side sleepers. They each have extra cooling measures designed to help hot sleepers stay cool throughout the night.

Still, there are notable variations in construction that create a different feel between these two beds. The DreamCloud Premier Mattress has the bounce and firmness of a traditional innerspring mattress, thanks to its individually pocketed innerspring coils. And because of the Nectar’s all-foam design, it has a high level of motion isolation that makes it a great mattress for couples.

Key Differences

  • The Nectar is a pure memory foam mattress, while the DreamCloud Premier is a hybrid mattress made with a combination of memory foam and individually pocketed coils.
  • The DreamCloud Premier Mattress is slightly firmer than the Nectar because of its innerspring coils.
  • The DreamCloud Premier has a Trueloft Eurotop layer to provide some bounce, whereas the Nectar is made with three layers of foam.

  • Both mattresses combine firmness and plush comfort that’s great for side and back sleepers.
  • Both mattresses are constructed to accommodate hot sleepers (Nectar has a top layer of gel memory foam and DreamCloud’s pocketed coils enhance airflow).

Deciding Between Nectar & DreamCloud

Firmness / Feel

Mattress firmness is measured on a scale of 1 to 10. One is the softest rating, and 10 is the most firm. For stomach or back sleepers, you’ll want to go with a firmer mattress to support your neck, shoulders, back, legs and hips. The best mattresses for side sleepers are soft enough to offer support and cradling around the shoulders and hips.

Both the Nectar and the DreamCloud are rated as medium-firm mattresses, meaning they should support the spine well in back sleepers, yet feel plush enough on pressure points for side sleepers. Still, those who are more heavyset should probably avoid these two mattresses. They simply don’t have the correct firmness level to leave you feeling fully supported.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is important if your pet often climbs up on your bed or you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns. Motion isolation can mean the difference between a sound night of sleep and a night of constant wake-ups, and beds that eliminate motion transfer are usually great for couples

The DreamCloud is constructed with a layer of low-motion transfer foam, but the Nectar excels in motion isolation because it has an all-foam construction that naturally dampens the feeling of movement. If reducing motion transfer is one of your most important considerations on your mattress-picking journey, be sure to check out the Nectar.

Edge Support

In a mattress, adequate “edge support” means that, when you sit or lie along on the edge of the mattress, it doesn’t sag too far down or make you feel as if you’re going to slide off the edge. If you have trouble balancing when you get out of bed in the morning or if you stretch out to the very edge of the bed when you sleep, edge support could make or break your experience.

Both the Nectar and DreamCloud mattresses offer good edge support. But the DreamCloud Premier has a thick layer of steel coils and a perimeter of reinforced edges, each of which makes it the winner in this category. Though the Nectar doesn’t have the best edge support of the two, the firmness of its foam layers helps to support the sleeper fairly well.

Pressure Relief

Plenty of sleepers are looking for a great mattress that addresses pressure points and provides pressure relief, and this depends mainly on the mattress material as well as your sleep position. Both the DreamCloud Premier and the Nectar mattress deliver excellent pressure relief, but we think the Nectar’s adaptive Hi-Core memory foam offers slightly better support for pressure points. If you’re dealing with chronic joint pain or arthritis, the Nectar could work well for you.

Spine Alignment

Do you often wake up with soreness or pain? Chances are, it’s because your mattress is not providing proper spinal alignment. The DreamCloud Premier features two dense memory foam layers and a pillow top, giving you the proper firmness to keep your spine aligned while you rest. The Nectar, while allowing for adequate spinal alignment, does not offer quite as much dense support as the DreamCloud. For mattresses with strong spinal and pressure point support, check out our list of the best mattress for stomach sleepers.

Both the Nectar and the DreamCloud mattresses are built to last for the long run and retain their shape. But keep in mind that the steel used in coils tends to last longer than foam. That’s why the DreamCloud could be a better choice for durability, though each of these mattress brands offers a Lifetime warranty. If you tend to sleep hot, you know the importance of finding a mattress that leaves you feeling cool and comfortable. Most mattresses nowadays are constructed with built-in, temperature-regulating materials, and the Nectar and DreamCloud are no exception.

Though memory foam mattresses are known to retain heat more than other mattress construction types, the Nectar is made with a layer of cooling gel memory foam that dissipates heat around the mattress.

That being said, the DreamCloud Premier is the better-performing mattress when it comes to temperature regulation. The coils found in the DreamCloud will enhance breathability and airflow throughout the mattress, meaning that body heat shouldn’t sit in the mattress but rather will flow outward and away from you. Nectar Mattress Construction

Nectar construction
Cover Knit Polyblend
Comfort Layer  Gel memory foam
Transitional Layer  Soft Hi-Core memory foam
Support Layer Dense, thick foam
Mattress Thickness   12″

The Nectar memory foam mattress starts with a top layer made of gel memory foam to encourage airflow and body contouring. It also helps to ensure maximum pressure relief for your shoulders, back, hips and thighs. Nectar’s adaptive Hi-Core memory foam layer delivers more support and prevents you from sinking into the mattress, which is good for those who sleep on their back and need to be properly supported for spinal alignment.

The base layer of the Nectar is made of dense foam to support the mattress and help it retain its shape and structure. The open air channels in this dense foam also assist with temperature regulation.

DreamCloud Premier Construction

Cover Tufted cashmere
Comfort Layer  Trueloft Eurotop with memory foam
Transitional Layer Point-activated foam; low-motion transfer foam
Support Layer Pocketed coils
Mattress Thickness    15″

The top layer of the DreamCloud Premier Mattress is made of soft and breathable tufted Cashex cashmere that is resistant to bedbugs. The bed also includes a Trueloft Eurotop layer that includes memory foam to cradle your pressure points (for instance, the shoulders, back and hips).

The next layers are two dense, supportive layers of memory foam designed to keep the spine aligned. First, the brand’s high-density, point-activated foam offers pressure point relief. Underneath that, the brand’s low-motion transfer foam offers a barrier between the body and the coils underneath. Finally, the base of the mattress is made with pocketed coils to further support the mattress and give it even more bounce. Compared to the Nectar, the DreamCloud Premier’s coils make it the better mattress for combination sleepers.

Our Final Take

The Nectar memory foam mattress and the DreamCloud Premier mattress share similar qualities: Both mattresses are good for back sleepers, side sleepers and those who sleep hot. However, if you prefer the bounciness of traditional innerspring mattresses, we recommend the DreamCloud. If you’re a memory foam purist, or if you share a bed with a partner or pet, the all-foam Nectar mattress is the better option.
