Deciding Between Nectar and Loom & Leaf

Firmness / Feel

At Mattress Nerd, we use a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the softest. Side sleepers like mattresses on the softer side because they support their hips and shoulders. Meanwhile, back and stomach sleepers prefer a firm option that will support their neck, shoulders, lower back and hips. 

The Nectar rates at 6/10, making it ideal for side or back sleepers. The Loom & Leaf comes in two firmness options, Relaxed Firm and Firm, which rate at 5/10 and 7/10 respectively. The former option is better for side sleepers, while the latter works best for back and stomach sleepers.

Motion Isolation

Couples who share a bed often have trouble with motion transfer, which is when movement travels across the surface of the mattress. This happens when a person changes sleeping positions or gets in and out of bed. A mattress with good motion isolation can avoid this by keeping the movement from traveling. The Nectar’s base layer consists of sturdy polyfoam that stabilizes and supports the entire mattress. The memory foam layer above it is made of proprietary soft memory foam, which delivers additional support and prevents sinkage. On top of that layer lies a 3” slab of gel foam that distributes your body weight evenly and absorbs heat. The mattress is topped with a soft, breathable mattress cover, providing a soft sleeping surface.

Loom & Leaf Construction

The bottom layer of the Loom & Leaf mattress is made of high-density foam to support the bed and help it retain its shape. Above that lies the transition layer, consisting of a thick loft pad that provides additional support to the layers on top. Next, you’ll find a layer of high-density visco-elastic foam that is naturally cool and body contouring. 

The foam layer above the transitional layer is made with proprietary cooling gel-infused memory foam, which promotes airflow and cooling. Finally, the mattress is topped with a breathable, organic cotton cover that further encourages cooling and comfort.

Shipping and Returns for Nectar and Loom & Leaf

Nectar

Nectar offers free shipping on its mattresses to the continental U.S. (Alaska and Hawaii will incur additional charges). Once you’ve placed your order, the Nectar mattress is expected to arrive at your door in approximately two to five business days. You can order Nectar’s white glove delivery service for an additional $149, which includes old mattress disposal and new mattress setup.

To ensure you fully enjoy your mattress, Nectar offers a 365-night sleep trial period. For one full calendar year, you can test out your new mattress and see if you like it under the terms of the return policy. If you choose to return it within that period, you’ll be eligible for a full refund. Further, the company offers a limited “Forever warranty” for the full period of the original owner’s ownership and use.

Loom & Leaf

Loom & Leaf mattresses are shipped to you free with Saatva’s trademark white glove delivery, which means delivery professionals will bring your new mattress into your home, set it up, and then take away and dispose of your old mattress. After placing your order, it can take approximately seven to 15 business days to receive it. 

Loom & Leaf comes with a 120-day sleep trial period that gives you roughly four months to test out your mattress to see if it’s to your liking. If you’re unhappy with the mattress in that time period, the company will pick it up and provide you with a full refund, minus a $99 processing fee.
