When it comes to hybrid mattresses, the DreamCloud Original and Brooklyn Bedding Signature are two of the most popular choices in the market. The DreamCloud is known for its excellent motion transfer and thermoregulating features, while the Brooklyn Bedding Signature is best for its cooling and multiple firmness options.
Having a hard time choosing between the two? No worries. In this mattress comparison, we’ll talk about everything you need to know between the two mattresses to help you pick out which one is best suited to your needs.
Here at MattressNerd, we make sure to bring you honest and accurate mattress reviews through firsthand testing in our sleep lab. Check out our testing methodology for more info on how our process works.
To give you a good idea of the mattress’s strong points, here’s an overview of each.

In this portion, we’ll go into more detail about the firmness and feel of the DreamCloud Original and Brooklyn Bedding Signature mattresses.
When mattress-hunting, one of the things you should consider is the firmness level. For a good night’s sleep, it’s essential to find a mattress with a firmness level that can accommodate your sleeping position. Here at Mattress Nerd, we use a firmness scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being as soft as a feather and 10 being as firm as the floor) to measure mattress firmness.
Based on our testing, we gave the DreamCloud Original mattress a medium-firm rating of 6.5/10. As for Brooklyn Bedding Signature, we got the medium version and gave it a rating of 6/10 or medium-firm, as we found it to be slightly softer than the DreamCloud Original.
Both the DreamCloud and Brooklyn Bedding Signature have a balanced hybrid feel that feels like you’re sleeping “on” the mattress rather than “in” it. When we laid down, we felt the slight sink into the foam layers before feeling the supportive, lifting feel of the coil layers underneath. Both mattresses also felt cool to sleep on, but the DreamCloud was slightly more so thanks to its cooling gel-infused memory foam.
The DreamCloud Original has excellent lumbar and edge support, making it a fantastic option for most back, stomach, and combination sleepers. Some side sleepers will also sleep comfortably on the DreamCloud mattress, but lightweight and average-weight side sleepers may feel like it’s too firm and that there’s not enough pressure relief.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature can also accommodate most sleeping positions thanks to the fact that it’s available in three firmness options. We recommend the Soft version for side sleepers who want more cushion and pressure relief, and the Medium and Firm versions for back and stomach sleepers who want more support for their back and hips.
DreamCloud Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 5 | 2 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 3 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 5 | 2 | 4 |
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 3 | 2 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 5 | 3 | 3 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 4 | 2 | 4 |
Average-weight back sleepers should have no trouble choosing between the two mattresses since both offer a good balance of back support and cushion for comfort. Combination sleepers will also be happy with either since the DreamCloud and Brooklyn Signature are very responsive hybrid mattresses.
Both mattresses can also accommodate side sleepers, but we think that strict side sleepers will feel like the DreamCloud and medium Brooklyn Bedding Signature are too firm. And so, we recommend getting the Soft version of Brooklyn instead. As for stomach sleepers, we recommend DreamCloud and the firm version of the Brooklyn Bedding for extra support and lift for your hips, as the medium version may feel too soft.
Heavyweight back sleepers will fare well with both the DreamCloud Original and the firm version of Brooklyn Bedding Signature. The medium version may work well for some, but the firm version gives additional back support to prevent any excess sinking. Both mattresses can accommodate heavy side sleepers, thanks to their deep cushioning foam and supporting coil layers.
On the other hand, heavier stomach sleepers should probably find firmer and more supportive options as they’ll likely experience sinking around the hips, which may lead to hip discomfort. Some combination sleepers may sleep comfortably on both mattresses, while others may feel like they sink in too much and have a hard time moving around.
Lightweight back sleepers will sleep comfortably on both mattresses. However, lightweight side sleepers may feel like the DreamCloud and medium Brooklyn Bedding Signature are too firm. Instead, we recommend the Soft version of Brooklyn Bedding Signature for pressure relief and extra cushion on the hips and shoulders.
Stomach sleepers will need a mattress that’s soft enough to be comfortable but firm enough to provide hip support. Fortunately, both mattresses do a great job at this, with the DreamCloud being slightly better at it than the medium Brooklyn Bedding Signature. Combination sleepers will also sleep comfortably on both mattresses thanks to their responsive coil systems.
The DreamCloud Original stands 14” tall, while the Brooklyn Bedding Signature is slightly thinner at 11.5”. Here’s a closer look at how they compare against each other in terms of mattress construction.

The DreamCloud features a cashmere-blend cover that’s paired with quilted memory foam for a soft, plush feel. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature also features a quilted memory foam top that comes with a cooling fabric cover.
DreamCloud’s comfort layer consists of cooling gel-infused foam that’s designed to regulate temperature and provide pressure relief. Brooklyn Bedding uses its proprietary TitanFlex Comfort Foam which prioritizes body contouring and maintaining a neutral spine alignment.
Both mattresses use individually wrapped coil layers with foam bases for support. These coil layers promote airflow and retain less heat.

If you’ve ever experienced waking up at night covered in sweat, then you’re probably a hot sleeper. If that’s the case, you’d want a mattress that prioritizes cooling, or at the very least, a mattress that maintains a temperature-neutral feel.
The good news is that both the DreamCloud and Brooklyn Bedding mattresses have coil layers, which help promote airflow inside your mattress and dissipate heat much more quickly. Thanks to this, sleeping on both mattresses feels cool and comfy. However, we’d have to give extra points to DreamCloud for its cooling gel-infused foam layers.
When you’re sharing a bed with someone, you’re going to want a mattress that has low motion transfer. Otherwise, you’re going to find yourself waking up in the middle of the night while your partner makes their midnight bathroom trip.
Typically, hybrid mattresses aren’t that well-regarded when it comes to motion isolation because of their coil layers. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see that both DreamCloud and Brooklyn Bedding had great motion isolation. We recommend both mattresses for couples and people who co-sleep.
A mattress with good edge support will make you feel supported even if you’re lying on the sides of your mattress. You’ll want to have a mattress with good edge support, especially if you want to maximize your mattress space or have trouble getting in and out of bed.
When it comes to edge support, DreamCloud takes the cake. We weren’t that impressed with the Brooklyn Bedding Signature since we sank right into the bed frame as soon as we sat on the edge. Because of this, we recommend the DreamCloud Original more for seniors, heavier sleepers, and couples.
Another important factor to consider in a bed is its ability to relieve pressure on common pressure points of your body, like your hips and shoulders. If a mattress has poor pressure relief, you’ll probably find yourself waking up feeling sore all over.
DreamCloud’s medium-firm memory foam layer scored well in pressure relief. After some testing, we saw that it did a great job at evenly distributing body weight and conforming to the sleeper’s body. The same can be said for the Brooklyn Bedding Signature. However, the pressure relief you’ll feel heavily depends on the firmness level you choose and your sleeping position.
Pain relief is heavily tied to pressure relief. If there’s pressure build-up in a certain area of the body, that area will likely develop aches and pains over time. If you’re suffering from back or body pain, it’s best to find a mattress that provides great pain relief for a good night’s sleep.
That said, both the DreamCloud and Brooklyn mattresses provided excellent pain relief for most back sleepers. The DreamCloud can also accommodate light to average-weight sleepers suffering from hip pain, but the Brooklyn Bedding Signature struggled in that aspect.
Generally, hybrid mattresses are more durable than other mattress types because of their durable coil layers. For both DreamCloud and Brooklyn Bedding, we think they’ll last you around 6 to 8 years, depending on the daily wear and tear they go through.
Also, DreamCloud offers a Lifetime warranty for each of their mattresses, while Brooklyn Bedding only offers a 10-year warranty.
DreamCloud mattresses come with free shipping across the contiguous U.S. (it’s an additional $150 shipping fee to Alaska and Hawaii). The brand also provides a Lifetime warranty and 365-day sleep trial which covers full refunds and mattress removal.
Brooklyn Bedding ships free across the U.S., except for orders to Hawaii and Alaska (at least $125 shipping fee). Brooklyn Bedding mattresses also come with a 10-year warranty and a 120-day sleep trial that offers full refunds.

All in all, the DreamCloud Original and Brooklyn Bedding Signature are fantastic hybrid mattresses that are worth your money. However, they excel at certain aspects that make them the better choice for different types of sleepers.
If you’re looking for a hybrid mattress that prioritizes cooling and has good edge support, we highly recommend the DreamCloud mattress for couples and seniors. But if you’re looking for a softer hybrid mattress that offers a good balance of support and comfort, we recommend you check out the Brooklyn Bedding Signature and its range of firmness options. Strict side sleepers and combination sleepers who mostly sleep on their stomach will find better options with Brooklyn.
Yes! The DreamCloud Original’s combination of memory foam and innerspring coil combo does an excellent job of providing pressure relief and support for the back. It helps alleviate the pain by contouring to the body’s natural shape and encouraging a healthy spine alignment.
Yes, especially the Soft and Medium versions of the Brooklyn Bedding Signature. Its soft foam layers do a great job of cushioning and contouring the body’s natural curves, while its supportive coil system provides excellent support to keep you lifted and prevent too much sinking.
No, DreamCloud mattresses are not designed to be flipped. The DreamCloud Original mattress layers are constructed in a specific way to provide a certain level of support and comfort, so flipping it would affect the overall sleeping experience. You can, however, rotate the mattress.
