Crane Drop Humidifier

Crane Drop Humidifier

Editor’s Pick

This compact, yet powerful, device can fill spaces up to 500 square feet, while running quietly and effectively. The Crane Drop humidifier’s tank can hold up to a gallon of water, and releases its cool mist from a 360 degree range nozzle. You can control its intensity by using the adjustable dial right on the front here.

The Crane Drop runs quietly and is easy to clean. Plus, if you’re into color options, you can choose between 8 fun tank colors like pink, orange, green, and blue— which you can match to the colors of your room!

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier Hero

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier

Best Budget

Price can make or break a buying decision, but luckily, with this pick, you don’t have to sacrifice any features to get a great deal. Coming in at around a $40 price point, the Vicks Warm Mist humidifier is the only model on our list that produces warm mist— which is nice for therapeutic reasons, and can also bring warmth into your room in the colder months.

The tank can hold up to a gallon of water, which can accommodate a medium to large size bedroom. You can control the intensity of the vapor output between the low and high settings by using the dial on the side here. And then the mist will come straight out the top.

An added value feature is this medicine cup, which you can add Vicks inhalant to further help alleviate any cold symptoms you may experience.

It’s important to note, if you are a light sleeper, using this humidifier on the high setting will create a light humming noise from the heating chamber. It’s similar to an ambient white noise sound, so nothing too disruptive, but something to know.

Aqua Oasis Humidifier 1

Aqua Oasis Cool Mist Humidifier

Best on Amazon

The Aqua Oasis humidifier is the #1 best selling humidifier on Amazon. It’s a cool mist humidifier that can hold up to 2.2 liters of water in its tank.  It’s small and compact, but when I tested it, it was powerful enough to fill my bedroom continuously through the night.

The nozzle also gives you the ability to rotate 360 degrees in any direction you want the vapor to go, and you can adjust the intensity output using the dial on the front of the device.

If you’re a lightweight sleeper, or you’re planning on using this in a nursery or kid’s room, the Aqua Oasis runs very quietly and has a safety auto shut-off feature for when it runs out of water to prevent overheating.

Pure Enrichment Humidifier

Pure Enrichment Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

Best Compact

Maybe you’re considering a humidifier, but you don’t want it taking up much space in your room! However, the Pure Enrichment humidifier is small but mighty, and will fit discreetly in your room.

This cool mist model holds up to 1.5 liters of water and will fill spaces up to 250 square feet. Its intuitive design only features one button that controls the power, the mist setting, and the optional night light! Plus, it comes with a nozzle that can turn in any direction, it runs quietly without making disruptive noise, and has a safety auto shut-off feature.

Levoit Humidifier

Levoit Cool Mist Humidifier

Best for Easy Cleaning

Our last pick is a great humidifier that can be easily maintained— the Levoit humidifier! I can’t stress enough how important it is to clean your device, because unkept humidifiers can develop mold or bacteria, which can make you sick if you’re inhaling it.

It’s a top fill, which means you can add or remove water simply by lifting the lid— which makes upkeep and refills very easy. The tank itself can hold three liters of water, enough to fill a medium to large bedroom.

A cool mist cool will be released from the nozzle on top, which you can rotate 360 degrees in any direction. Plus, it has a dial that you can use to adjust the vapor intensity from low all the way to max. And I will say, I own this device and the dial has great control and variability.

When it comes time to clean, simply remove the tank and wash. Unlike some other humidifiers, the Levoit doesn’t have small or hard to clean parts. This device also comes with a filter, which you can easily remove and clean. This filter helps keep the vapor clean and safe during use. For more information on cleaning, be sure to check out our full written review.

Lastly, if you’re into essential oils, the Levoit is also an oil diffuser!

Picking the Right Humidifier

If you’re unsure which humidifier will work best for you, it’s important to consider a few key factors prior to purchase.

Temperature

Warm mist or cool mist? Well, it’s really a preference thing. Both warm mist and cool mist work the same to combat dry symptoms, so it’s not like one type will help you more than the other. With warm mist, it will bring a bit of heat into your space and make it cozy. This may be nice in the winter months in a cold climate, to help bring warmth into your room without having to crank up the thermostat. Cool mist on the other hand, will keep your room at the same temperature you set it at. It’s also nice if you live in a dry climate year round and want to use your humidifier during the summer months.

Size

Depending on the size of your room, you’ll want your humidifier to be able to hold enough water in its tank to run consistently for a long period of time and fill up the entirety of your space. Getting a model with a compact body and smaller tank will work for small to medium sized bedrooms, while a gallon tank will be better for larger areas.

Maintenance

Across the board, you have to clean your humidifier. There’s no one model that doesn’t require the upkeep. However, some humidifiers are easier to clean than others. If you’re already someone who has a dedicated cleaning day of the week, you shouldn’t have too much trouble cleaning any of the models on this list. But if cleaning is your least favorite activity, consider our “best cleaning” model for less of a headache.

Summary

All in all, humidifiers are a handy, inexpensive solution to alleviating dry, cold-like symptoms. Use them in the winter months, or year round, to bring moisture into your space while sleeping or working. All the options on our list are under $100, were personally tested by our Mattress Nerd team, and hand-picked for this list.
