Ecosa In-Depth Review

Ecosa built a big enough reputation on the other side of the world in Australia that the buzz of the mattress reached American shores. Now, Ecosa sells its foam mattresses in the United States, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. The Ecosa full memory foam mattress is known for its versatility and unique construction. The layers inside the double-cover mattress allow you to have memory foam, latex or all-form option at the top to change the firmness of the mattress. Overall, the foam does a great job relieving pressure points, making it one of the best mattresses for back pain. You can arrange the layers for a medium, medium-firm or firm feeling. It’s the sleeper’s choice with Ecosa.

Ecosa Highlights

  • You can change the firmness by flipping the foam layers
  • Pin-core holes in every layer of foam for better airflow and cooling
  • The waterproof cover acts like mattress protector, blocking moisture, dust mites

Ecosa Mattress by Sleeping Positions

Remember there are three levels of firmness. In general, however . . .

Back sleepers do best on mattresses that hold up. They don’t need much contouring so plush mattresses are wasted on them. The Ecosa at all firmness levels is a great mattress for back sleepers regardless of their body weight.

Average or heavy side sleepers will put more pressure on the foam and it will curve around their hips and shoulders in the medium and medium-firm setup. The best mattress for side sleepers contour around pressure points to protect the hips and shoulders.

Lighter stomach sleepers could find most of the settings too firm. For more supportive options, see the best mattress for stomach sleepers.

Ecosa Firmness

The Ecosa G-7 Memory Foam mattress has three layers that can be arranged to change the firmness. The levels are medium (6 of 10 on the firmness scale), medium-firm (7 of 10)  and firm (8 of 10) depending on which layer is on top closest to your body. The Ecosa G-7 mattress is medium with the cooling gel foam on top of the ECO-Tex foam with the support foam at the bottom. It is medium-firm with the ECO-Tex foam on top above the cooling gel foam. If you put the support form on top, simply flipping the entire mattress over, you get the firm feel. Ecosa says this configuration will serve even heavier people. Find similar options in our picks for the best firm mattress.

Ecosa Construction

The Ecosa G-7 Memory Foam Mattress is made of three different types of foam that both offer a different firmness level and accomplish other tasks.

The 1.5-inch layer of high-density G-7 gel memory foam is infused with cooling gel particles. The gel helps control the temperature of the mattress so you don’t get too hot. (Remember full memory foam mattresses often get a bad rap for sleeping too hot.)

The 1.5-inch layer of open-cell foam is called ECO-Tex. The “Tex” part refers to how the foam has some bounce to it and mimics latex in the process. Since the foam has an open-cell structure, more air can flow through it and carry heat away instead of trapping it.

The other layer is 6.5 inches of ergonomic support foam. It gives enough to curve around wider body parts and supports enough to keep your spine aligned

There is a German micro-filament in the waterproof protector interior cover that helps keep you try and keep the mattress free of mold and dust mites.

The cover is made of polyester and can be removed and washed.

Overall, the Ecosa layers, stacked at any level, might feel like a firmer mattress than other memory foam mattresses. If you want a well-made, affordable memory foam mattress that won’t swallow you whole, the Ecosa is a good option. If you’re an average or heavier back and side sleepers, the Ecosa is a good option.

If you sleep hot or are a couple that hates getting jostled and woken up by your partner, the Ecosa is a great option. If you have allergies, the fact that the Ecosa has a removable, machine washable outer cover and a moisture-proof inside cover makes Ecosa a good option as well.
