We rated the DreamCloud Premier as one of the best pillow top mattresses. In addition to the luxurious cushioning, the thick coil layer gives great stability for a healthy spinal alignment. On this hybrid, you’ll feel as if you’re “floating” on top, not sinking in. The Leesa’s ridged foam comfort layer soothes aches but doesn’t suck you in like traditional memory foam. You’ll stay more “on” the mattress vs “in” it.
What’s It Like to Sleep On the DreamCloud Premier & Leesa Mattresses?
The DreamCloud Premier’s cushy pillow top and sturdy coils create a well-rounded sleep experience for practically every sleeping position (back, front, or side), no matter your size. Only lightweight side sleepers might find a softer mattress more cushioning since they won’t quite sink into the comfort layer as deeply.
The Leesa feels especially supportive for back sleepers, who just need their hips elevated slightly in order to keep their spine’s natural “S” curve. It’s also a decent fit for stomach and side sleepers, but we don’t recommend it for heavyweight sleepers.

On the DreamCloud Premier, you can sleep any way you like, or a combination of ways, and the mattress’ pillow top and coils will likely meet your needs for pressure relief and support. Back and stomach sleepers, it’ll keep your hips slightly elevated for a nice, neutral spine and side sleepers will find cradling that keeps your spine in a straight line.
The Leesa received superior marks for back sleepers in this weight category, but only average if you like your stomach or side for sleeping. This mattress shouldn’t cause any back pain and we think it’s a good fit for the average sleeper, though we don’t recommend it to anyone with pre-existing shoulder pain.

Cover
The DreamCloud Premier starts off with a cashmere blend cover. This offers a luxurious feel. The Leesa has a soft, grey knit cover that is breathable and seamless for a smooth surface.
Comfort Layers
The DreamCloud Premier’s euro pillow top has an inch of high-loft memory foam and an inch of soft foam. This is all on top of a 2.5″ memory foam layer. Combined, they provide excellent pressure relief. The Leesa mattress’ comfort layer is perforated for airflow and convoluted, meaning it has ridges that look like an egg crate. This helps relieve aches and pains. This is a proprietary material that Leesa uses to mimic the slight bounce of latex. Underneath this is their memory foam recovery layer.
Support Layers
The DreamCloud Premier has 8″ of coils as its primary base. These individually-wrapped coils reduce felt motion and foster good airflow. But nobody wants to feel these rockstar coils, so this layer is sandwiched between dense foam as a transition and support. Like most all-foam beds, the Leesa’s base is made of 6″ of high-density foam which helps with durability.

DreamCloud Premier vs. Leesa Mattress Performance Ratings & Differences
Temperature
For the average sleeper, the DreamCloud Premier will provide a temperature-neutral night of sleep, thanks to the airflow throughout the coils. But if you often wake up sweaty, you might want to browse our best cooling mattresses. Similarly, the all-foam Leesa proactively designed their mattress to combat overheating. The perforated top layer keeps things just as neutral as the hybrid DreamCloud Premier.
Motion Transfer
In our sleep lab, we do several tests with a beaker of liquid to see how a mattress handles movement. Pushing down, we mimic the tossing and turning of a partner and observe the beaker on the other side. We also drop a weighted ball to simulate getting in and out of bed.
Despite differing materials, both mattresses did a decent job of isolating motion to its source which is one reason they both made our list of best mattresses for couples. The DreamCloud Premier’s transition layer provides the slightest bounce and the ridged foam in the Layla is designed to be responsive like latex. This is helpful if you change sleeping positions during the night.

Need to use your mattress as a chair to tie your shoes? That’s where edge support comes in. It’s also key for couples who want to utilize the full surface area, without feeling like they’re going to slip off the bed. And if you’re someone who needs to get in and out of bed slowly, edge support is there for you.
In this category, there’s really no contest. The coil construction of the DreamCloud Premier outshines the all-foam Leesa. This is pretty normal for all-foam beds, so heavyweight people and seniors might instead consider the Leesa Original Hybrid.
Pressure Relief
Due to the thick pillow top and comfort layer combination, the DreamCloud Premier delivers outstanding pressure relief for most every size and sleeping position. Lightweight side sleepers might like a softer mattress for their shoulders and hips. Memory foam mattresses usually excel at this, but the Leesa only performed average because of its unique latex-like layer of foam. This should still be decent for the lightweight to average-weight sleeper, especially for back sleepers.
Pain Relief
If you’re waking up with new back pain, your mattress likely isn’t helping your spine stay in its natural “S” shape for back and stomach sleepers, or a straight line for side sleepers. The medium-firm DreamCloud Premier won’t cause you new back pain because it offers a nice balance of cushion atop the coil support.
