Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt vs. Leesa Mattress Comparison

Leesa and Tempur-Pedic deliver excellent quality mattresses, but which one is the best mattress option for you? Find out below in our mattress review.

Comparing Leesa & Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Pro Adapt Mattresses

The Leesa Original Mattress is built with a mixture of polyfoam and memory foam, while the TEMPUR-ProAdapt comes in both an all-foam and a foam/spring hybrid option. The Leesa Original mattress is a great basic (and more affordable) option for side sleepers who want adequate shoulder and hip support and contouring to reduce pain and pressure.

Tempur-Pedic’s pricier TEMPUR-ProAdapt comes in various firmness and construction options, which means you can pick and choose the right level of firmness to suit virtually any sleep position, but the price will reflect this. The best mattresses for combination sleepers accommodate their ever-changing positions, so the TEMPUR-ProAdapt’s variety in firmness options is a nice perk.

Leesa and Tempur-Pedic are known for creating high-quality mattresses that have been loved by many for years. Although they’re both great mattress manufacturers, there is no bedding option that is one-size-fits-all. Depending on your sleep position, budget, and overall preferences, one mattress may be better suited for you than another. Read on to find out which is the best mattress for you.

  • The TEMPUR-ProAdapt offers a variety of firmness levels from 4/10 to 7/10, while the Leesa Original mattress is a 6/10.
  • The Leesa Original mattress is a much more budget-friendly option (starting at $699) compared to the TEMPUR-ProAdapt (starting at $2,499).
  • The Leesa Original mattress features proprietary cooling technology in its construction, while the TEMPUR-ProAdapt’s soft and medium versions are known to sleep slightly warmer.

  • Both mattresses come with great motion isolation for couples.
  • Both mattresses offer 10-year warranties to guarantee your mattress purchase
  • Both mattresses deliver excellent edge support, making it much easier to get in and out of bed without worrying about sagging.

The Leesa mattress adapts to all sleep positions and most body types. With its cooling foam and additional layers that both hug and support you, it's no wonder customers love sleeping on their Leesa.

Deciding Between Leesa & Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-ProAdapt

Firmness / Feel

All mattresses are rated on a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the most firm. Mattresses that are softer are typically better for side sleepers because of the cradling for their hips and shoulders, while firmer mattresses are for back and stomach sleepers who need support for their hips, back, shoulders, legs, and neck. The Leesa Original mattress is a 6 on the firmness scale, making it ideal for heavier back and side sleepers. The TEMPUR-ProAdapt comes in a wide range of firmness levels, so any type of sleeper is bound to find a comfortable option.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is important for couples who share a bed and have problems with disturbing each other’s sleep with their movements. If you plan to share a bed with someone, you want a bed with low motion transfer. The Leesa Original mattress offers a fair amount of motion isolation, but the firm option of the TEMPUR-ProAdapt excels in this area, making it the better mattress for couples.

Edge Support

The level of support and responsiveness around the edge of your bed is referred to as edge support. Ideally, you want a mattress with a high level of edge support that makes it easier for you to get in and out of bed without causing unnecessary sagging. Memory foam mattresses traditionally have trouble with edge support, but these two beds both rate higher than average for preventing sagging.

Pressure Relief

If you find yourself waking up with a sore back or shoulders, you may have a mattress that is lacking in pressure relief. You want to find a bedding option that will offer optimal pressure relief so that you can wake up feeling refreshed and pain-free. Both mattresses are great for pressure relief, but the TEMPUR-ProAdapt’s firm option delivers greater pressure relief and spinal alignment for stomach sleepers. The best mattresses for side sleepers are ones that use more foam, which cushions pressure points. The Leesa Original mattress uses superior foam technology, and provides great pressure relief for side sleepers particularly.

Spine Alignment

A major contributor to back pain is having a mattress that doesn’t keep your spine straight and aligned. Depending on your sleep position, you’ll need to find a mattress that is firm or soft enough to promote spinal alignment. The Leesa Original mattress and the soft and medium versions of the TEMPUR-ProAdapt offer spinal alignment and contouring for side sleepers and back sleepers, while the medium-firm and hybrid TEMPUR-ProAdapt mattresses promote spinal alignment for stomach sleepers by keeping the hips from sagging. The best mattresses for stomach sleepers are ones that are firm enough to keep you supported, so out of the all of the TEMPUR-ProAdapt options, the medium-firm and hybrid are probably your best bet if you frequently rest on your stomach.

You want your mattress to last for a long time without it losing its shape or firmness. Wear, tear and sagging are expected to happen after a long time of sleeping on a mattress, but depending on the materials used in its construction, you can prolong the life of your mattress and not have to worry about declining sleep quality. Both options offer high-quality foams that retain their shape well and don’t sag. Both beds do come with 10-year warranties, though, so any sagging will be covered under this.

Sleeping hot is another common problem in the mattress world. Depending on both your mattress material as well as your weight, temperature regulation can be a big source of frustration. The Leesa Original mattress incorporates cooling technology to reduce night sweats for sleepers, and the medium-hybrid and firm TEMPUR-ProAdapt’s level sleep surface prevents you from sinking into the mattress, thus letting you sleep cooler at night. Leesa’s active cooling technology makes this bed the better option though if heat is a major concern.
