Nest Bedding Mattress Models

Nest Bedding was established in 2011 in San Francisco and became one of the first direct-to-consumer mattress companies to roll their beds, making them one of the best bed-in-a-box mattresses. Nest Bedding is known for its high-quality, comfortable mattresses and dedication to helping sleepers find the mattress that’s right for them.

Mattresses by Nest Bedding are available in two lines, luxury and organic, and the company also sells a kid’s mattress—the Puffin, formerly called the BKB Big Kid’s Bed. The luxury line includes the Sparrow (formerly the Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress), the Robin (formerly the Flip Hybrid), and the Quail (formerly the Love & Sleep mattress). The Sparrow is the brand’s best seller. The organic line includes the Owl (formerly the Natural Hybrid Latex) and the Finch (formerly the Natural All Latex mattress).

In this Nest Bedding mattress review, we’re sharing details about each of the brand’s mattresses including how they’re constructed, how much they cost, and who they’re best for. We also share the best mattresses from Nest Bedding by sleeping position, pros and cons of buying a bed from Nest, and what to expect with regard to shipping, warranty coverage, and more.

Best Nest Bedding Mattress by Sleeping Position

Side Sleepers

The best mattress for side sleepers should offer conforming around the hips and shoulders. From the luxury line, we recommend the Quail mattress in the Plush option, the Medium side of the Robin flippable mattress, and the Soft or Medium firmness levels of the Sparrow Mattress. From the organic mattress line, we recommend the Owl Hybrid Latex and Organic Hybrid Latex in Soft and Medium firmness levels and the Finch Natural Latex mattress in Medium.

Back Sleepers

The best mattresses for back sleepers help maintain proper spinal alignment by supporting the hips and shoulders. In general, any of the Medium-Firm or Firm versions of the Nest Mattresses will work for this sleeping position.

Heavyweight back sleepers may find Nest’s latex options more supportive of their bodyweight overtime, but lightweight and average weight sleepers should do fine on any of the Nest mattresses in the right firmness level. If you are looking for the most supportive mattresses available, see the best mattresses for heavy sleepers.

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers need a Nest Mattress that will provide a firm enough sleeping surface to keep the hips from sinking. Our recommendations for stomach sleepers are similar to those for back sleepers. Any mattress in a Medium-Firm or Firm firmness level should be suitable. For example, the Sparrow Signature Hybrid in Firm, the Firm side of the Robin flippable mattress, and the Firm version of the Owl Natural Hybrid Latex. Check out the best mattress for stomach sleepers for other mattresses that work to support the entire body.

Combination Sleepers

For combination sleepers, we recommend selecting a Nest mattress that is best suited for the sleeping position you find yourself gravitating toward most. We also recommend looking into Nest’s latex models, whose top layers provide more bounce and responsiveness and may make it easier to change positions throughout the night. The Owl Natural Hybrid Latex mattress has a nice middle-of-the-road price point and comes in three firmness levels to suit combination sleepers of any weight. If you are looking for a mattress that makes changing positions easy, see the best mattress for combination sleepers.

It contains three comfort layers, which include gel memory foam, and SmartFlow polyfoam. The support core contains 6″ pocketed coils followed by a 1-inch layer of polyfoam. If you are looking for a mattress that incorporates foam and coils, see the best hybrid mattresses.

Robin Flippable Foam Construction

This mattress has more of a traditional memory foam mattress feel. The dual-comfort features allows you to easily flip the mattress for a Medium or Firm firmness level. The cover is organic quilted cotton with 1.5″ of polyfoam. There are three comfort foam layers of polyfoam and memory foam on the Medium side and one comfort layer of polyfoam on the Firm side. Coils at the core of the mattress improve breathability and responsiveness.

Quail Construction

The Quail mattress is constructed with a phase-change fabric cover. The comfort layer is Energex foam, which balances responsiveness with pressure relief. The transitional layer is convoluted polyfoam, which helps improve airflow. The support layers are made from firm, high-density polyfoam.

Owl Natural Hybrid Latex Construction

The Owl Natural Hybrid Latex mattress is made of Joma wool and knit organic cotton. The cover can be zipped off for easy washing. The comfort section contains three layers: Eco Flex polyfoam, dunlop latex, and polyfoam. The support layer contains 6″ pocketed coils and one inch of support polyfoam.

Certified Organic Hybrid Latex Construction

The Nest Certified Organic Hybrid Latex features the same configuration as the Natural Hybrid Latex bed but is made with organic and certified materials. It includes Greenguard Gold, GOLS certified organic latex, GOTS certified organic cotton, and GOTS certified organic wool. No synthetic materials, toxic fire retardants, or polyurethane foams are in this mattress.

Finch All Latex Construction

The Finch All Latex bed is offered in three firmness levels, and the exact construction of the bed will depend on which model you select. All models feature an organic cotton cover, two layers of Dunlop latex, Eco Flex Quilting Foam, and a Dunlop latex support core and base.

Certified Organic All Latex Construction

The Certified Organic All Latex bed features the same construction as the All Latex mattress but is made with Certified GOLS and GOTS materials.

Conclusion

Overall, we really like the mattresses, customer service, and product policies that Nest Bedding brings to the table. Their dedication to helping shoppers find the bed that’s right for them, which is evident in their sleep trial period, return policies, warranty policies, and Lifetime Renewal Exchange, make the brand even more appealing.

We also love that Nest has such a wide variety of mattress styles, from all-foam and hybrid to latex and luxury latex hybrid, and offers nearly every mattress in at least two firmness options. As long as Nest Bedding’s mattresses are in your budget, we think you can’t go wrong purchasing a new bed from this popular online mattress company.
