Best Humidifiers For Bedroom

Aqua Oasis Humidifier 1

Aqua Oasis Cool Mist Humidifier

Editor’s Pick

The Aqua Oasis humidifier is the #1 Best Selling Humidifier on Amazon. It’s a cool mist model that can hold over two liters of water in its tank.  It’s small and compact in size, but is powerful enough to fill a large size room. I personally tested the Aqua Oasis in my large bedroom, and it was able to run continuously throughout the night.

At the top of the device, you’ll find the nozzle where the mist comes out of. It can rotate 360 degrees in any direction, so you’re not limited to the vapor only releasing in one direction. Plus, you can adjust the intensity output using the control dial on the front of the humidifier.

If you’re a lightweight sleeper, or you’re planning on using this in your child’s bedroom, the Aqua Oasis runs quietly and has a safety auto shut-off feature for when the tank runs out of water to prevent overheating.

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier Hero

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier

Best Budget

If you’re interested in a humidifier, but don’t want to spend a lot of money, you should enjoy this next pick. With the Vicks Warm Mist humidifier,  you don’t have to sacrifice any features to get a great deal. Currently priced at around $40, this Vicks model is the only one on our list that produces warm mist instead of cool mist— which is both therapeutic, and can bring warmth into your space during the winter.

The tank can hold up to a gallon of water, which is an ideal size for filling a medium to large size room. Choose between the low and high settings by using the control dial on the side of the device, and then the mist will come straight out the top spout.

One of my favorite features of this humidifier is the medicine cup, which you can add Vicks inhalant to, to further help alleviate any cold symptoms you may experiencing. So back to that therapeutic point I made earlier, this is a great humidifier to have on hand when you’re not feeling well.

A possible downside to the Vicks Warm Mist humidifier is that it makes a light humming noise from the heating chamber when running on the high setting. It’s similar to an ambient white noise sound, so nothing too disruptive, but something to know, especially if you want something that runs silently.

Levoit Humidifier

Levoit Cool Mist Humidifier

Best for Small Rooms

For those of you looking to buy a device for a smaller bedroom, office, or nursery, the Levoit humidifier could be your best bet. It’s sleek and compact, while still being able to hold a lot of water in its tank. The Levoit is actually one of my personal favorite humidifiers— I own it!

It’s a top fill, which means you can easily remove the lid and fill or empty the tank, which holds three liters of water. You can also detach the tank from the base to empty it out instead of needing to transport the entire device to a sink, like many other humidifiers.

The Levoit pumps out cool mist from the 360 degree nozzle on top, and you can easily adjust the vapor output using the dial. It runs virtually silent throughout the night, it’s easy to clean, and you can add essential oils to it and use it as an oil diffuser as well. Overall a great value, two-for-one product.

Crane Drop Humidifier

Crane Drop Humidifier

Best for Large Rooms

We covered a model for small rooms and now of course, we have one for larger rooms— the Crane Drop humidifier!

This unique, tear drop looking device can hold up to a gallon of water in its tank, which works perfectly for accommodating larger rooms up to 500 square feet. It releases cool mist from the nozzle up top, which can be moved in any direction you want the vapor to go. You can also control the vapor intensity using the adjustable dial on the base. Plus, Crane Drop runs quietly and is easy to clean.

Lastly, for those who love color options, the Crane Drop comes in eight fun colors like pink, orange, green, and blue! Which, if you’re buying for a kid’s room, could compliment an existing decorating theme.

Crane Top Fill Humidifier hero

Crane Top Fill Humidifier

Best for Easy Cleaning

And lastly, we have a model with simple upkeep— the Crane Top Fill humidifier. Think of it like the Crane Drop’s “older sibling”. While the superlative may not be “flashy” it’s very important. Humidifiers have to be well maintained so they don’t grow bacteria or mold. So the easier the cleaning process, the better!

This humidifier is another top fill model, but unlike the Levoit, it can hold more water in its tank— over one gallon! The cool mist will shoot out from the nozzle on top that you can move 360 degrees in any direction.

You can adjust the vapor output by pressing the water symbol, between the low and high settings. Some fun features include its compatibility for essential oils, and its optional color changing night light!

As for the upkeep, the Crane is a very simple device. It doesn’t have a bunch of small components that make cleaning difficult. The cover, mist lid, and mist chamber are all top rack dishwasher safe, and the tank is large enough to clean thoroughly without a headache. Be sure to check out our editorial review for more in-depth cleaning instructions.

Picking the Right Humidifier

If you’re unsure which humidifier will work best for you, it’s important to consider a few key factors prior to purchase.

Temperature

Can’t decide on a warm mist or cool mist model? It all comes down to preference. They both have the same effectiveness at combating dry or cold-like symptoms, so no need to worry about one being “better” than the other.

With warm mist, expect it to bring a bit of heat into your space, which can have a therapeutic effect, and overall make your room feel cozy in the winter months. This could be helpful in a cold climate in order to avoid needing to crank up the thermostat all the way up.

On the other hand, if you live in a hot, dry climate, a warm mist model may be unappealing. Instead, a cool mist humidifier will keep your room at the same temperature, and simply humidify the air.

Size

The next factor to consider is size. Whether you’re looking to accommodate a small or large room, the tank size of your humidifier is important in knowing how long the it can run and fill up your space with moisture. With a smaller room, you can get away with a tank that is less than a gallon, and vice versa for a larger space.

It’s also important to realize how much space a humidifier is going to take up. A larger device, like the Crane Top Fill or the Vicks, is going to need more space allocated to it than the Aqua Oasis or Crane Drop. Plus, you have to place humidifiers on elevated surfaces in case they leak. So make sure you’re thinking these factors before purchasing.

Maintenance

Across the board, you have to clean your humidifier. There’s no one model that doesn’t require some level of maintenance. However, some humidifiers are easier to clean than others. If you’re already someone who is on top of your cleaning and have a dedicated day of the week you do a full sweep of your house, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble with any of the models on this list. But if cleaning is your least favorite thing to do, consider our “best for easy cleaning” model, the Crane Top Fill humidifier, for less of a headache.
