What Type of Mattress Is The GhostBed 3D Matrix

The GhostBed 3D Matrix mattress is a 7-layer coil-and-foam combination mattress. It is specifically designed to cool the body during sleep and cradle key pressure points.

How Well Does the GhostBed 3D Matrix Regulate Temperature?

With two layers specifically designed to absorb body heat and cool the sleeper, the GhostBed 3D Matrix is no stranger to temperature regulation. The 3D Matrix polymer layer stretches out in all directions instead of simply compressing, which means that body heat is distributed outward and away from the user.

GhostBed 3D Matrix Mattress Firmness & Feel

Every mattress is rated on a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the softest. The GhostBed 3D Matrix Hybrid Mattress rates at approximately 6.5, just above the medium feel, making it a great mattress for back and stomach sleepers, side sleepers and heavyweight sleepers.

Is the GhostBed 3D Matrix Mattress Good For Couples?

Though every couple is different, most will be happiest with a mattress that isolates motion. A mattress that prioritizes motion-isolating construction can help prevent those unfortunate wake-ups when your partner moves during the night. Although the mattress includes motion-transferring coils, the multiple foam layers in the GhostBed 3D Matrix mattress help isolate movement and give each partner a healthy sleep experience.

GhostBed 3D Matrix Mattress by Sleeping Positions

Back Side Stomach Combination
The foam/coil hybrid construction provides ample support for spinal alignment for back sleepers. Heavier side sleepers will find the mattress to be the right level of firmness to support hips and shoulders.

The mattress might be too firm for side sleepers who have lighter frames.

The mattress may help stomach sleepers keep their spines aligned and their hips from sinking in.

❌Heavier stomach sleepers might experience their hips to sink in, throwing off spinal alignment.

✅Combination sleepers that share a bed will enjoy the motion isolation that prevents their movements from disturbing each other throughout the night.

Back Sleepers:

Back sleepers need a mattress that supports their back, shoulders and hips to promote spinal alignment. The 3D Matrix is one of the best mattresses for back sleepers, designed to accommodate a majority of back sleepers while delivering pressure relief and minimizing back pain, on top of advanced cooling abilities.

Stomach Sleepers:

Like back sleepers, stomach sleepers want a bed that will keep their body properly supported, but with extra attention for their neck and hips (which tend to sink into softer mattresses, thus throwing off spinal alignment). The GhostBed 3D Matrix Hybrid might be fine for lighter stomach sleepers, but heavier-framed individuals may have problems with hip support.

Side Sleepers:

The best mattresses for side sleepers are soft enough to keep their hips and shoulders cradled. The GhostBed 3D Matrix Hybrid has a medium-firm level of firmness, which might be too firm for lighter side sleepers, but just right for those with average or heavier frames.

Combination Sleepers:

Combination sleepers need a bed that can support a variety of sleep positions throughout the night. The 3D Matrix can accommodate most positions, but it can be a little difficult if you spend more time on your stomach. However, the excellent edge support and high-quality motion isolation means that combination sleepers who share a bed won’t have to worry about disturbing each other throughout the night.

GhostBed 3D Matrix Construction

The GhostBed 3D Matrix Hybrid Mattress is comprised of 7 different layers consisting of foam layers and coils, which work together to give a firm yet cushioned experience for sleepers.

The base layer of the GhostBed 3D Matrix Hybrid is a solid inch of high-density support foam to provide extra support and durability for the entire mattress. On top of that is a layer of individually wrapped and reinforced support coils, which are designed to deliver the same responsive support you would find in traditional innerspring mattresses.

The coils that line the perimeter of the GhostBed 3D Matrix Mattress are extra reinforced to offer enhanced edge support, which is ideal for people who like to sleep on the edge of the bed or those who have trouble getting in and out of bed.

The next layer is made of GhostBed 3D Matrix Soft Transition Foam. This 1-inch layer contours to your body and provides pressure relief for sensitive areas like the shoulders and hips. The next layer above that is the exclusive Ghost Bounce Layer. The material used is responsive like latex but resilient and contouring like traditional memory foam, giving you a “floating” feeling.

Following that layer is 2 inches of gel memory foam that cradles your body and moves heat away from the mattress core.

Then you have the patented 3D Matrix Polymer Layer, made of thermal conductive gel polymer to absorb excess body heat and wick it away from the sleeper. Finally, the mattress is topped with the Ghost Ice Cooling Cover, fitted with advanced technology that makes it cool to the touch.

Our GhostBed 3D Matrix Mattress Final Review

The GhostBed 3D Matrix Hybrid Mattress is a solid bed that brings a lot to the table, which explains its significant price point. The bed was engineered to suit back sleepers and most side sleepers, especially if you tend to stay hot at night. However, we think heavier stomach sleepers may want to try something a little firmer to ensure they get adequate support. We rate the GhostBed 3D Matrix Hybrid Mattress a 4.7 out 5.
