The fabric cover is made of 100 percent premium cotton. The feel is thin and a bit stiff, like a freshly dry cleaned cotton dress shirt. It’s removable and machine washable. Let it air dry instead of putting it in the dryer.
TEMPUR-Breeze Gel Layer
Two layers of Tempur-Pedic’s patented gel are layered on both sides of the pillow, which give you a cool-to-the-touch sensation.
TEMPUR Material Memory Foam Insert
This is the core element of the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze. It has a medium firmness and slow responding memory foam feel. It’s very impressionable and offers a personalized experience by adapting to your shape.
At Mattress Nerd, we’re dedicated to giving you unbiased and honest opinions on the products we review. We compare every product against the following categories and rate them on a scale from one to five, with five being the best.
Tempur-Pedic claims this pillow gives the “ultimate cooling” experience—and we agree. This pillow is cool-to-the touch and refreshing, which is a recipe for relief if you’re a hot sleeper. The TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze gel layer is featured on both sides, so you’ll always be in contact with a cooling layer regardless of what side you sleep on.
Unlike some cooling pillows we come across here at Mattress Nerd, the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze maintains its cool feel over the course of the night. That consistency is especially important if you experience hot flashes or tend to wake up with night sweats. The five inch profile of this pillow will be great for all sleeping positions and body types unless you’re a petite sized stomach sleeper. In that case, this pillow is not quite flat enough to maintain proper spinal alignment for your body type. Instead, opt for a very low, almost flat pillow.
Other than that, the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze will provide you with a high enough loft that you’ll be able to achieve healthy alignment. By supporting your head and neck, and keeping it in line with your spine, you’re less likely to wake up with neck and back pain.
With the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze, you’ll experience that heavy, slow responding, memory foam feel. That being said, you can manipulate this pillow and fold it, or maneuver it in a way to feel most comfortable for you. It didn’t earn a perfect score for this category because the inside fill is not adjustable—it’s a solid memory foam block.
Quality of Materials: 5/5
Tempur-Pedic products are known for their quality, so of course this pillow is no exception. With the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze, you get a 100 percent premium cotton cover that’s breathable and machine washable, Tempur-Pedic’s patented memory foam, as well as their cooling gel technology. This pillow comes with a luxury price tag, but it’s an investment that comes with a 5-year warranty.
The TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze comes with a removable, machine washable cover. Let the cover air dry. The memory foam core cannot be washed or you could potentially damage the material.
Customer Experience: 3.5/5
Tempur-Pedic customer service can be contacted through an online chat feature on their website, by phone, or in person at one of their showroom locations.
One thing to be aware of before you buy is that Tempur-Pedic does not offer returns, exchanges, or trial periods for their pillows. The only situation where you could file a request for a refund or exchange is if there was a defect or damage to the pillow upon delivery.
Total Score: 4.4/5
I think this is a superstar option for side sleepers. The loft is high enough that you’ll have room for your shoulders while still keeping your head and neck in proper spinal alignment. 10/10 for this sleeping position.
Back sleepers, I think you’ll really enjoy this pillow. The loft on it is about 6.5 inches, so it’s on the taller side, but you should be able to sink comfortably into that memory foam surface and feel supported under your neck and head.
Now for stomach sleepers…This pillow has an asterisk next to your position because I only think this will work if you’re on the average to heavier side. Petite stomach sleepers will find this pillow to be too lofty for them and that could be uncomfortable and throw your neck and back out of neutral alignment.

- Top-of-the-line cooling features: I was definitely impressed with the immediate cool-to-the-touch feel and this pillow’s ability to stay cool over prolonged use.
- Great for side sleepers: This pillow has a high enough profile for side sleepers to comfortably rest without having to re-fluff the pillow or have it fall flat on you.
- Easy upkeep: Thanks to the removable and machine washable cover, you’ll be able to clean the pillowcase easily. Score for hypoallergenic folks out there!
- Slight off-gassing smell: When you initially unbox this pillow, you’ll notice a very slight off-gassing smell. But don’t worry, this will go away in a few hours once it’s been left out to air out.
- No returns or exchange policy: Tempur-Pedic does not offer returns or exchanges on their pillows, so know that it’s a commitment when you buy.
- Pricey: This is the most expensive pillow Tempur-Pedic sells— that’s because of the added feature of their patented cooling gel. But, we can help with that! Make sure to use our coupons for an exclusive discount on your TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze pillow!

Are Tempur-Pedic pillows worth it?
I personally think so. A good quality pillow can do wonders for improving the quality of your sleep and alleviate any aches and pains you may experience in your neck or shoulders. The great thing about Tempur-Pedic pillows is that they come with an extra-long 5-year warranty.
Do cooling pillows help with hot flashes?
Yes! If you experience hot flashes and find yourself switching between being cold and then being in a pool of sweat throughout the night, a cooling pillow should help mitigate those symptoms and give you some relief. The Tempur-Pedic gel material absorbs excess heat and releases it if needed.
Should you put a pillowcase on a cooling pillow?
Some folks are wary of putting a pillowcase on a cooling pillow for fear of weakening the cooling properties, but that shouldn’t be an issue with a quality cooling pillow like this one. You can use a pillowcase if you’d like, but to get the full cooling, sleep without one.
If you’re a notoriously hot sleeper who’s never found a pillow that actually provides any relief, this is the option for you. The cool-to-the-touch gel layer immediately gives you a refreshing sensation when you place your face on the surface and actually stays cool over use. Plus, this pillow can work for all sleeping positions.
Although the price is expensive, consider this purchase a luxury investment in a high-quality product (it even comes with a 5-year warranty). If the price doesn’t work for your budget, check out the other models listed on our best cooling pillows roundup for options in different price ranges.
