The Brooklyn Bedding Signature hybrid mattress is the brand’s flagship and most popular model. This hybrid mattress, made with a mixture of foam and coils, is especially cooling for those who tend to overheat during the night.
It’s also a fairly accommodating mattress—great for those in most any weight category (lightweight, average-weight, and heavyweight) and adequate for a variety of sleeping positions. It’s available in three firmness levels: soft (about 4/10 on the firmness scale), medium (6/10, which is considered medium-firm by many), and firm (8/10).

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora is a hybrid mattress that’s similar to the Brooklyn Bedding Signature mattress, with the exception of extra cooling and comfort features. A good example is the CopperFlex foam top layer. This foam blend is infused with cooling gel and tiny copper pieces, which keep your body heat distributed evenly.
The Aurora also incorporates memory foam layers that reduce strain on your joints. Like the Signature, the Aurora is offered in soft, medium, and firm.

The Brooklyn Sedona is the most luxurious of the Brooklyn Bedding mattress collection. It combines an extra cooling mattress cover, four layers of cushioning foam, and 8” of pocketed coils.
Unlike many of the other mattresses offered by Brooklyn Bedding, the Sedona comes in only one firmness: medium. This firmness level is best suited to back or side sleepers with lightweight or average-weight body types, since it blends pressure relief with whole-body support.

The Brooklyn Spartan mattress has a foam and coil build that’s similar to the Brooklyn Aurora, except it incorporates materials that promote faster tissue recovery.
The performance fabric used in the mattress cover is made with nanobionic far infrared technology. Translation: it absorbs your body heat, converts it into infrared energy, and then reflects that energy back to the body—a process that may encourage faster recovery for muscle tissue. The cover also features a temperature-regulating Phase Change Material that helps sleepers maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature.
The foam layers are designed to stay cool and cushion sore muscles and joints. Like most Brooklyn Bedding mattresses, the Spartan has a foundation of Ascension coils that give the mattress a supportive, responsive feel.

The Brooklyn Bloom hybrid mattress is made with natural materials like Talalay latex, Joma wool, and organic cotton. It’s the only Brooklyn Bedding mattress to incorporate latex. The latex layer is very responsive, which gives combination sleepers lots of mobility on the mattress surface.

Like the Sedona, the Bloom is offered only in a medium firmness that’s most compatible with back and side sleepers. For more options like this, see the best mattresses for side sleepers.

The Chill mattress is Brooklyn Bedding’s only all-foam mattress. It’s made with a gel-infused memory foam layer on top and high-density polyfoam at the base. The 12” and 14” versions include a third layer of transitional foam.
The Chill is also the only Brooklyn Bedding mattress to be offered in five heights—each with an associated firmness level. The shorter the mattress, the firmer the feel. With so many options, the Chill is a great choice for those looking to spruce up a guest room or give kids and teens a comfy, supportive mattress without spending more than a few hundred dollars. Here at Mattress Nerd, we classify lightweight sleepers as weighing < 130 lbs, while average-weight sleepers are between 130–230 lbs, and heavyweight sleepers weigh over 230 lbs.
The Brooklyn Signature, Bloom, and Aurora are the best cooling mattresses for hot sleepers. Each has a base layer of coils that circulates warm air out of the mattress during the night. The Aurora has foam packed with cooling materials, the Bloom is topped with naturally cooling latex, and the Brooklyn has the fewest heat-trapping foam layers.
Those prone to back pain should choose a bed that’s compatible with their sleep position. Stomach sleepers need a firm mattress that keeps their lower back supported. The Signature, Aurora, Spartan, and Chill all come in different firmness options, including firm. Side sleepers will also like these models, since they need a soft or medium mattress that cushions their pressure points. Back sleepers fare the best on mattresses having a firm or medium-firm feel.

Finally, the best mattresses for couples are beds with good motion isolation and edge support. Motion isolation is a measurement of how well a mattress prevents your movements from disrupting your sleeping partner (and vice versa). Good edge support enables you to use the entire mattress surface instead of just the center. All of the Brooklyn Bedding mattresses, with the exception of the Bloom, reduce motion transfer, and the Spartan has the best edge support.

| Standout Feature | TitanFlex foam has the responsiveness of latex and the cushion of memory foam | CopperFlex foam is antimicrobial and pressure-relieving | High-density gel memory foam closely contours to your body and absorbs excess heat | Smart Fabric performance cover promotes faster muscle recovery | The Talalay latex top layer is both cushioning and supportive | Gel swirled throughout the top layer of memory foam improves temperature regulation |
| What Sets it Apart | Available in three firmness levels for ultimate customization | Made to cool the body and keep hot sleepers comfortable | Four layers of foam atop individually wrapped coils create a cloud-like feel | Designed specifically for athletes and active individuals | Made with eco-conscious materials like sustainably sourced wool, organic cotton, and Talalay latex | Extremely affordable, making it a great budget buy |
A few factors directly influence how a mattress feels, primarily firmness, your body type, construction, and materials. The Spartan, Aurora, Signature, and Chill are all available in multiple firmness levels. The softest versions usually have thicker, plusher comfort layers, and the reverse is true for the firmer models. The Bloom and Sedona have a medium firmness that’s soft and cushioning without compromising support.
Your body type can influence a mattress’s perceived firmness. Those with heavyweight body types tend to sink further into the mattress and bump against the support layers. This can make a mattress feel softer than advertised. Lightweight sleepers tend to perceive mattresses as firmer, since they don’t press down as far into the comfort layers.
The construction and materials of a mattress also have an impact on how it feels. Foam beds are more contouring and conforming than innerspring mattresses. This makes them a good fit for those with joint or back pain. Latex mattresses have a buoyancy and responsiveness that keeps you “on top” of the bed, instead of “in” it. Hybrid or innerspring mattresses have coil base layers, and so they tend to be bouncier and cooler.

Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are shipped for free through FedEx to addresses in the contiguous USA. Deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii start at $125, and shipments to Canada begin at $250. Delivery typically takes between three and five days, though supply chain interruptions may change your bed’s arrival time. You’ll receive a tracking number after your mattress ships, so you can see where it’s at in the delivery process.
All Brooklyn Bedding mattresses come with a 120-night trial period, giving customers a full four months to test out their new mattress (instead of a few minutes in a showroom). Their return policy states that a 30-day break-in period is required prior to making a return or exchange. This is because it typically takes the body 30 days to adjust to a new mattress.
Brooklyn Bedding mattresses rank high for durability, and the company backs their beds with a 10-year warranty. The Brooklyn Bedding warranty is non-prorated and begins on the date of purchase. Brooklyn Bedding will repair or replace the mattress if it arrives with—or develops—certain defects.
Complaints about side sleeping on Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are understandable, given that selecting an appropriate firmness level for your body type and sleeping position is difficult. Although Brooklyn Bedding’s array of firmness settings is usually seen as an advantage, the sheer number of options may make finding the right fit challenging for some customers.
It seems that most complaints from side sleepers come from shoppers who have chosen medium or medium-firm settings, so we think the soft Brooklyn Bedding options could offer a solution to this issue.
Brooklyn Bedding’s direct-to-consumer model can cause hiccups in the form of shipping delays when order volumes are high or factory staff are limited, such as during the peak of COVID-19. While many customers detail their “stellar” experiences with customer service representatives, others seem disappointed over the lack of communication regarding shipping times.
Brooklyn Bedding acknowledges delays due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 but also states that U.S. purchases are delivered within three to four business days, which can be confusing for customers. If customer service is very important to you, especially during the shipping or sleep trial periods, consider contacting Brooklyn Bedding’s customer service team with questions about policies before you buy. Your experience with their responsiveness or communication during this “trial run” may indicate how well the process will go.
Five of Brooklyn Bedding’s six mattress options are hybrid beds, meaning that they have coils at the base. Coils should encourage ample airflow throughout the mattress to help with temperature control. However, many of the beds also contain memory foam in the comfort layers, which has been known to absorb heat. Softer beds also tend to sleep warmer than firm mattresses, so plush Brooklyn Bedding options may sleep warmer than the brand’s firmer beds.
If you sleep hot, we recommend the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora, which the brand advertises as a “luxury hybrid with advanced cooling technology.”
It’s not uncommon for mattress companies to require customers to cover some part of their return shipping fees or to require a break-in period before customers can initiate a return. While it’s ultimately up to customers to read the details of the policies for the products they purchase, we think that Brooklyn Bedding’s return policy marketing—which includes strong statements like “100% risk free, “no drama,” and “zero return fees”—is misleading. The brand could benefit from some flexibility and communication in its mattress policies.
To be safe, discuss the exact details of the return policy for your delivery area with a Brooklyn Bedding customer service representative, and try to receive those policy details in writing before purchasing your mattress.
The initial setup of your mattress takes only a few minutes, but it can take an additional 24–48 hours for the mattress to fully inflate. To start, remove the mattress from the delivery box, lay it on your bed frame, and remove the plastic cover. It will begin to take shape immediately. Let it rise without sheets for a day or two.
That depends on your unique needs. If you need a budget-friendly mattress, go with the Chill. If you want an all-natural mattress, the Bloom is best for you. The Spartan is ideal for athletes or those with active lifestyles, while the Signature and Aurora are great for couples.
In short, yes. Brooklyn Bedding uses CertiPUR-US certified foams that are non-toxic and certified for low emissions. If natural materials are especially important to you, their Bloom mattress is made with Oeko-Tex Class 1 certified latex, sustainably sourced Joma wool, and organic cotton. Any off-gassing scent is non-toxic and should clear out after a few days in a well-ventilated room.
Brooklyn Bedding recommends any foundation that has little or no flexing or sagging. You can use most platform, slat, box spring, and adjustable bases.

Brooklyn Bedding is a U.S. based and American-made mattress company founded by two brothers in 1995. The company first began selling on Amazon, and has since built its own factory in Phoenix, Arizona, making it one of the only bedding companies in America to manufacture its own products, sell direct to consumers, and pass along the savings.
In 2008, Brooklyn Bedding successfully jumped into the bed-in-a-box game. The company now sells both mattresses and bedding. It currently offers six mattress models: five hybrid mattresses and one all-foam mattress. By manufacturing all of its own beds in Phoenix, it cuts out the “middle man” and offers high-quality, durable mattresses at a good price point.
