Pros/Cons

Pros

  • Great price point for budget shoppers and a great affordable mattress
  • High level of firmness delivers support for heavier sleepers
  • Advanced cooling add-on available

Cons

How Does the Titan Mattress Feel?

Firmness

Mattress firmness is determined on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the softest. The Titan mattresses come in two versions: the Titan Firm (7/10) and the Titan Luxe (6/10). We tested the Titan Plus Luxe Hybrid mattress, so keep that in mind throughout the review. For similar options to the Titan Firm, see the best firm mattresses.

The Plus Luxe Hybrid rests on the medium-firm end of the firmness scale due to its memory foam and coil hybrid construction. Remember that beds feel softer to heavier people and firmer to lighter people. The Plus Luxe Hybrid is a 6/10 for heavier sleepers, so it’ll likely feel firmer to average-weight and lightweight people. This firmness makes it ideal for plus-sized sleepers, no matter their sleeping position.

Temperature

Titan is made with tons of cooling and breathable materials, including gel memory foam and a breathable pocketed coil system.

To enhance your Titan Plus sleep experience, you can purchase additional features as part of your sleep package: including a cooling top panel, which will help moderate temperature and provide you with extra cooling. This can be extremely beneficial to hot sleepers who have trouble with temperature regulation throughout the night. For similar mattresses, see the best mattress for hot sleepers.

Support By Sleeping Position

Body Type: BACK SLEEPERS STOMACH SLEEPERS SIDE SLEEPERS
Lightweight (< 130 lbs):  4 4 3
Average weight (130 – 230 lbs): 5 4 4
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs):  4 4 5

1 = Very poor, 2 = Not good, 3 = Fair, 4 = Good, 5 = Excellent

Edge support is a crucial yet sometimes overlooked feature on most mattresses. Edge support refers to the firmness and resistance on the edge of your mattress. A mattress with enhanced edge support prevents your bed from sagging, helps relieve back strain when getting in and out of bed, and reduces the likelihood of falling out of the bed while you sleep.

The Titan Plus’ construction does not reinforce the edges with high-density foam. The coils will keep the edges supportive enough, but they won’t hold up over time.

Edge support is also a good indicator of a bed’s durability. Since this is a hybrid bed made for larger individuals, it should hold up longer than the average innerspring mattress. However, due to the average edge support, we think it’ll give you seven to 10 good years.

Back Sleepers

The best mattresses for back sleepers support their backs, necks, legs, and hips. The Titan Plus’ medium-firm construction of pocketed coils and memory foam layers makes it a prime choice for average-weight and heavyweight back sleepers (though heavier back sleepers may have pressure point relief problems). Lightweight individuals may find the bed a little too firm for their liking, but it’ll still contour to your spine and relieve pressure.

Side Sleepers

When people sleep on their sides, they require a softer mattress that will cradle their hips and shoulders and relieve pressure on these sensitive areas. Since the Titan Plus combines memory foam with pocketed coils, it relieves pressure better than your average innerspring mattress.

Heavyweight side sleepers should see great weight distribution on the Titan because the more body weight applied to the mattress, the better it performs. Average-weight and lightweight side sleepers should feel great pressure relief, but the spinal alignment won’t be as good as it is for heavy people.

Check out the best mattress for side sleepers for more options.

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers need the same type of support as back sleepers, except they will want additional support for their necks due to sleeping with their head turned to the side. The Titan Plus is firm enough to keep stomach sleepers’ spines properly aligned while also preventing their hips from sinking into the mattress. This is true for lightweight, average-weight, and heavyweight stomach sleepers.

For other mattresses that support the hips and neck, see the best mattress for stomach sleepers.

Combination Sleepers

Combination sleepers are constantly shifting throughout the night, so they need a mattress that will accommodate their various sleeping positions. The more weight you apply to the Titan, the better the responsiveness. This is because heavyweight people get closer to those responsive springs. Still, lightweight and average-weight combination sleepers will also get decent responsiveness from this mattress. For mattress options that make changing positions easy, see the best mattress for combination sleepers.

Does It Fit Your Lifestyle?

Sleeping in a Couple

People who sleep with their partner or child know the struggle of waking up whenever their partner moves. This is caused by poor motion isolation in the bed’s construction that causes movement to transfer across the mattress.

The Titan has average motion isolation, which means you’re more likely to feel movement when your partner gets in and out of bed as opposed to when they switch positions. If you’re an incredibly light sleeper, we’d recommend a dense, memory foam mattress or any from our list of the best mattresses for couples.

Budget

We classify a budget mattress as any bed where the Queen size is under $1,000. This rule is a bit different when it comes to plus-sized beds; they tend to be more expensive because they use more quality materials. The Titan mattress is pretty affordable for a plus-sized mattress, and Brooklyn Bedding coupons are rather generous.

Construction: What’s Inside the Titan Plus Mattress?

The Titan Plus is made of several layers of different materials that work together to provide pressure relief, spinal alignment, and optimal comfort. As the name suggests, the Titan Plus is a hybrid mattress, which means that it consists of both memory foam and coils, allowing it to be a prime choice for back, stomach, and combination sleepers. There is an optional additional layer made of premium Phase Change molecule fabric to further promote coolness for sleepers.

Layer #1: 1” Quilted Gel Memory Foam Top: The top layer is a 1″ quilted top with included high-quality gel memory foam for extra cooling comfort and to prevent body impressions.

Layer #2: 2” TitanFlex Comfort Layer: The middle layer comprises a 2″ layer of TitanFlex foam, which promotes responsive contouring and targeted pressure relief.

Layer #3: 1” Energex Transition Foam: This layer acts as a transition between the memory foam layers and coils.

Layer #4: 8” TitanCaliber Individually Wrapped Coils: The core support system of the mattress is made of 1,032 steel coils. The springs are pocketed, so motion transfer is minimized, and airflow is maximized.

Layer #5: 1” High-density Base Foam: The bottom of the Titan Plus is a 1″ layer of high-density base foam that gives the mattress its signature durability while also supporting the individually wrapped coils.

How Do the Policies Measure Up?

Shipping & Unboxing

Brooklyn Bedding mattresses ship free via FedEx Ground to anywhere within the contiguous U.S. Once you place your order, you will receive a tracking number by email, which will allow you to keep an eye on your new mattress throughout the entire journey.

It typically takes between one to four days to process new orders and to ship them out to customers. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, shipping starts at $125 per mattress. Shipping to Canada is available as well via DHL, and it starts at $250 per mattress.

The Titan Plus typically takes three to five business days to be delivered to your home if you live within the continental U.S. For residents in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada, it may take longer. Your Titan Plus arrives as a bed-in-a-box at your door. This allows for easy transportation to your home as well as to your desired bedroom. It took us a little over two minutes to unbox the Titan Plus mattress, and we noticed very little off-gassing.

One big note: it was very heavy. We strongly suggest you unwrap this mattress with the help of a partner.

Warranty

Brooklyn Bedding offers a 10-year warranty on its Titan Plus mattress. For 10 years, starting from the date of delivery, your mattress is protected against defects, deterioration, and damage as a result of workmanship or material defects.

Your warranty also covers sagging and body indentations of 1” or greater, provided you are using the mattress per manufacturer instructions. Please note that the warranty doesn’t cover items such as incorrect bed height, damage due to an inappropriate foundation, or normal increase of softness in mattress material (which is a normal part of the breaking-in process).

Looking for more info? Check out Brooklyn Bedding Warranty page!

Trial Period & Returns

The Titan Plus comes with a 120-night sleep trial period. That means you can try out your new mattress for approximately three months to see if it’s the right fit for you. As with most mattresses, the Plus may require a break-in period to accommodate your body. You will need to give your new mattress 30 days starting from the date of delivery before you can request a return or exchange.

You can initiate a return of your new mattress within 120 calendar days of when you receive it. However, Titan requires that you give yourself 30 days to break in the mattress before you can begin the return process. Many of the best online mattress companies feature the same policies and procedures.

To return or exchange your mattress, you will want to contact customer support directly by email or phone.

Titan Mattress FAQs

Are Titan mattresses good?

Titan mattresses are good for heavier individuals, no matter their sleep position, looking for a supportive mattress. This bed is also good for people who toss and turn and those who sleep hot at night. The Titan may not be best for those who need great edge support.

How thick is the Titan mattress?

The Titan mattress comes in two different firmness levels and thicknesses. The Titan Firm Hybrid mattress is 11" thick, but the Titan Luxe Hybrid mattress is 13" thick, thanks to the extra pillow top layer. Go with a higher foundation if you want the Titan Firm, and vice versa.

Does my Titan mattress have a weight limit?

Because the Titan mattress is designed specifically for plus-sized sleepers, the weight limit is quite high. For the Queen size, the Titan can support up to 900 lbs., and the king size can support up to 1,000 lbs., so you can sleep soundly knowing you're well-supported.

What’s the Bottom Line?

Both the Firm and Luxe Titan Plus models were created as a solution for plus-sized sleepers who had difficulty finding the right mattress to accommodate their heavier frames. Because this mattress combines heavy duty premium pocketed coils with high quality memory foam, it creates one of the best hybrid mattresses that is responsive, promotes spinal alignment, and delivers a great night’s sleep for heavier back, stomach, and side sleepers.
