Titan Hybrid Mattress Review

Our Verdict: The Titan Hybrid mattress was designed to be one of the best mattresses for plus-size sleepers. The hybrid construction consisting of memory foam and pocketed coils puts this mattress on the higher end of the firmness scale, making it a great option for heavier stomach, back, and combination sleepers, while side sleepers and memory foam purists may not find it as appealing.

Titan Hybrid Mattress by Sleeping Positions

Back Side Stomach Combination
✅Coils provide spinal alignment and back support for heavy individuals.

❌Lighter back sleepers might find the bed too stiff

✅Plenty of support if you’re ok with a firmer surface

❌Side sleepers might not find proper hip or shoulder cradling due to the thick coils.

The coils make the mattress nice and firm to keep the spine aligned and to prevent hips from sinking in.

❌The bed might be too firm for lighter sleepers.

The firmness of the mattress reduces motion transfer.

Lighter individuals may think the bed is too stiff.

Side Sleepers

When people sleep on their sides, they require a softer mattress that will cradle their hips and shoulders and relieve pressure on these sensitive areas. Since the Titan Hybrid combines memory foam with pocketed coils, it is higher on the firmness scale and thus may be too firm for side sleepers.

Back Sleepers

The best mattresses for back sleepers  support their backs, necks, legs, and hips. The Titan Hybrid’s firm construction of pocketed coils and memory foam makes it a prime choice for heavier back sleepers. Lighter individuals may find the bed to be a little too firm for their liking, but still more comfortable than if they were side sleepers.

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers need the same type of support as back sleepers, except they will want additional support for their necks due to sleeping with their head turned to the side. The Titan Hybrid is firm enough to keep stomach sleepers’ spines properly aligned while also preventing their hips from sinking into the mattress. As with back sleepers, lighter stomach sleepers might consider the Titan Hybrid to be too firm for their needs.

Combination Sleepers

Combination sleepers are constantly shifting throughout the night, so they need a mattress that will accommodate their various sleeping positions. The Titan Hybrid also comes with superb motion isolation, meaning that couples that share a bed won’t have to worry about disturbing each other while moving around at night.

Pros & Cons of the Titan Hybrid

  • Great motion isolation for couples
  • Affordable price point for budget shoppers
  • High level of firmness delivers support for heavier sleepers
  • Free shipping and delivery in the continental United States
  • Only offered online
  • Mattress might be too firm for lighter individuals
  • No White Glove delivery option

Titan Hybrid Mattress Firmness & Feel

Mattress firmness is determined on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the softest. The Titan Hybrid rests on the higher end of the firmness scale at 7.5 due to its memory foam and coil hybrid construction. This firmness makes it ideal not just for plus-sized back sleepers, but also for plus-sized stomach sleepers who are tired of beds where their hips sink into the mattress.

Titan Hybrid Mattress Construction

The Titan Hybrid is made of several layers of different materials that work together to provide pressure relief, spinal alignment, and optimal comfort. As the name suggests, the Titan is a hybrid mattress, which means that it consists of both memory foam and coils, allowing it to be a prime choice for back, stomach, and combination sleepers.

Titan Mattress Layers

The bottom of the Titan Hybrid is a 2-inch layer of high-density base foam that gives the mattress its signature durability while also supporting the individually wrapped coils. The next layer up consists of 961 6-inch TitanCaliber individually wrapped coils that deliver unparalleled motion isolation.

The middle layer comprises 2 inches of TitanFlex foam, which promotes responsive contouring and targeted pressure relief. The top layer is a 1-inch quilted top with included high quality gel memory foam for extra cooling comfort and to prevent body impressions. There is an optional additional layer made of premium phase change molecule fabric to further promote coolness for sleepers.

Titan Hybrid Mattress Buying Experience

Shipping, Delivery & Returns

Titan ships its Hybrid mattress via free FedEx Ground to anywhere within the contiguous United States. Once you place your order, you will receive a tracking number by email, which will allow you to keep an eye on your new mattress throughout the entire journey. It typically takes between 1 to 4 days to process new orders and to ship them out to customers. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, shipping starts at $125 per mattress. Shipping to Canada is available as well via DHL, and it starts at $250 per mattress.

The Titan Hybrid typically takes 3 to 5 business days to be delivered to your home if you live within the continental United States. For residents in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada, it may take longer.

When your Titan Hybrid arrives, it is compressed inside a thick box. This allows for easy transportation to your home as well as to your desired bedroom.

You can initiate a return of your new mattress within 120 calendar days of when you receive it. However, Titan requires that you give yourself 30 days to break in the mattress before you can begin the return process.

To return or exchange your mattress, you will want to contact customer support directly by email or phone.

Trial Period

The Titan Hybrid comes with a 120-night sleep trial period. That means you can try out your new mattress for approximately 3 months to see if it’s the right fit for you. As with most mattresses, the Hybrid may require a break-in period to accommodate your body. You will need to give your new mattress 30 days starting from the date of delivery before you can request a return or exchange.

Titan offers a 10-year warranty on its Hybrid mattress. For 10 years, starting from the date of delivery, your mattress is protected against defects, deterioration, and damage as a result of workmanship or material defects. Your warranty also covers sagging and body indentations of 1” or greater, provided you are using the mattress per manufacturer instructions. Please note that the warranty doesn’t cover items such as incorrect bed height, damage due to an inappropriate foundation, or normal increase of softness in mattress material (which is a normal part of the breaking-in process).

The Titan Hybrid is offered exclusively online on Titan’s website and Amazon.

Edge Support

Edge support is a crucial yet sometimes overlooked feature on most mattresses. Edge support refers to the firmness and resistance on the edge of your mattress, which is vital for both sleeper safety and comfort. A mattress with enhanced edge support prevents your bed from sagging, helps relieve back strain when getting in and out of bed, and reduces the likelihood of falling out of the bed while you sleep. The Titan Hybrid’s construction allows it to have enhanced edge support that is designed to accommodate plus-sized individuals.

Care & Maintenance

Caring for your Titan Hybrid mattress is simple, but necessary, if you want it to last a long time. Once you receive it, you will want to take the mattress out of its box within three weeks to protect its shape. It may take roughly 3 to 5 hours for your mattress to expand once it’s been set up, and that “new mattress smell” generally dissipates within 24 hours. Make sure to keep the mattress in a well-ventilated room to expedite the airing out process.

It’s recommended that you rotate your Titan Hybrid mattress every 6 to 8 months, but you should not flip it due to its specific layered design.

The Titan Hybrid is easy to spot clean with a mild detergent, but remember to gently dab instead of rub. It’s ideal that you purchase a mattress protector to keep your Titan safe from spills and stains.

The break-in period for a new Titan Hybrid mattress can take up to a few weeks, but you can help speed up the process. Some ways to break in your mattress include carefully walking across or bouncing on the mattress, which promotes aeration of the foam and fibers.

Titan Hybrid mattresses are constructed using only safe and approved materials. You will not find harmful or toxic substances in your mattress, including chemical fire sprays or chemical retardants. Instead, the mattress is made with safer, high quality fire retardant socks, which consist of a specialized fabric blend.

Optional Features

To enhance your Titan Hybrid sleep experience, you can purchase additional features as part of your sleep package. The first optional item is a cooling top panel, which will help moderate temperature and provide you with extra cooling. This can be extremely beneficial to hot sleepers who have trouble with temperature regulation throughout the night.

The second optional feature is a cooling Talalay latex mattress topper. This topper can deliver contouring and pressure point relief, which will help those with back problems and spinal alignment issues remain comfortable throughout the night.

Our Titan Mattress Review

Nerd Score: 4.6/5

The Titan Hybrid is an excellent mattress for plus-sized sleepers, but it may be a little much for lighter sleepers with thinner frames. The affordable price point makes this an attractive buy for budget shoppers, and the hybrid construction allows it to accommodate back, stomach, and combination sleepers. However, the fact that it’s offered exclusively online can be frustrating for some.

Do I need a mattress protector?

While a mattress protector is not required for your Titan bed, it would be wise to invest in one as mattress protectors help with added protection against dust mites, liquid spills, and generally extending the life of your mattress. Brooklyn Bedding sells its own mattress protector that you can view here.

Do I need a box foundation for the Titan mattress?

Any support system will work as long as it provides minimal to no flex. This includes most platform, slat, and box spring foundations. If you’re in the market for a new mattress foundation, Brooklyn Bedding specifically designs foundations for their mattresses that you can check out here.

Does my Titan mattress have a weight limit?

Because the Titan mattress is designed specifically for plus-sized sleepers, the weight limit is quite high. For the queen size, the Titan can support up to 900 lbs. and the king size can support up to 1,000 lbs., so you can sleep soundly knowing you’re well-supported.
