We compare the Leesa Original to the Brooklyn Bedding Signature to help you decide which of these balanced, budget-friendly mattresses is best for you.
The Leesa Original is an all-foam mattress with an accommodating, soft foam feel that’s just a hair above medium on our mattress firmness scale (6/10). The Brooklyn Bedding Signature is a hybrid mattress that’s available in three different firmness levels, all of which have a responsive feel with a gentle cradle. Both beds are made with high-quality materials, sleep cooler than average, and have a little bounce that makes it easy to move around.
We recommend the Signature for people who want to choose their firmness level, like the feeling of sleeping “on” their mattress, and enjoy the feel of traditional innerspring beds. We recommend the Leesa for people who want a foam bed but normally sleep hot on memory foam mattresses, don’t particularly enjoy the sinking sensation of memory foam, or want a new mattress that’s going to feel generally comfortable to most people.
Below, we explore more of the differences, similarities, construction, pricing, and performance factors of the Leesa Original and Brooklyn Bedding Signature mattresses. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know to decide which of these bed-in-a-box mattresses is best for you.

The Leesa is a medium mattress (6/10 on our firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest), and although it contains memory foam, it doesn’t mold to the body like most memory foam beds. This gives sleepers the feeling of being loosely cradled, which will likely be an enjoyable sensation for people who need pressure point relief but don’t like super-plush mattresses.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature, on the other hand, comes in three firmness options (3.5/10, 5.5/10, and 7.5/10). All three have a bouncy, innerspring feel, so you’ll feel lifted on the mattress or like you’re sleeping “on” the bed rather than “in” it. The top layer is TitanFlex foam, which hugs like memory foam but has the responsiveness of latex, so you get a nice mix of lift and pressure relief regardless of the firmness level you choose.
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 4 | 3 | 4 |
Average weight (130 – 230 lbs): | 4 | 3 | 5 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 2 | 2 | 2 |
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |

Foam mattresses typically receive the highest scores for motion isolation, but hybrid mattresses can earn high marks if they have certain features, like individually wrapped springs, that discourage motion transfer across the mattress. The Leesa and the Brooklyn Bedding Signature each isolate motion very well in their own right. The Signature has 1,024 individually pocketed coils that help reduce disturbances, and the memory foam in Leesa’s top layer will make it less likely that you’ll disturb your partner at night.
If the perimeter of a mattress doesn’t sag or give when you sleep or sit near its edges, it’s got great edge support. Hybrid mattresses with coil cores usually perform well in this area, and the SIgnature is no exception. You shouldn’t feel like you’re dipping down too far when you sit or lie along the edge of the Brooklyn Signature. The Leesa does compress at its edges, especially if you’re an average-weight or plus-size body type.
Pressure relief is especially important for people who have tender joints, chronic pain, or injuries. Still, all sleepers should pay attention to areas of pressure based on their sleeping position. For example, side sleepers tend to feel more pressure buildup at the hip and shoulder joints. The Leesa offers gentle pressure relief, but not as much as most memory foam beds. The LSA200 material used in the Leesa is bouncier, so the relief coming from the memory foam layer underneath it is present but not obvious. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature has a similar feel in that it doesn’t feel like memory foam and is bouncy, but the pressure relief is much more noticeable in the soft version.
A bed’s support layer is the primary factor to consider when selecting a mattress for proper spinal alignment. The Leesa has a polyfoam core that’s durable and supportive, and the Brooklyn Bedding Signature has a pocketed coil core that’s supportive yet assists with pressure relief by contouring to the body.
The bed that will encourage proper spinal alignment for you largely depends on your sleeping position and weight. For instance, the Leesa’s medium-firm firmness level should work well for back sleepers, while side sleepers might want to choose the softer version of the Brooklyn Signature for ultimate spinal stability. If you’re still looking for more information, we recommend reading our Mattress Firmness Guide and “What is the Best Sleeping Position?” to help you decide.
The Leesa’s LSA200 comfort foam and its memory foam have 3 lb densities. These are relatively high-density foams, so we expect the mattress to last seven to 10 years. Like most hybrid mattresses, the Signature also has a lifespan of seven to 10 years thanks to its pocketed coil core, which helps make the mattress robust and resistant to sagging and indentations.
There are several factors to consider when determining whether a mattress will help you sleep cool, including the bed’s airflow capability and any moisture-wicking materials that actively draw heat from the body.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature is constructed with several cooling features, including a breathable woven cover that encourages temperature neutrality, gel-infused TitanFlex comfort foam to draw body heat away from the sleeper, and a tall pocketed coil support core that enhances airflow throughout the entire mattress. The Leesa likely won’t run hot for people who don’t have major temperature issues because the top layer of LSA200 foam doesn’t collect as much heat as memory foam. Still, the memory foam in the second comfort layer may cut down on cooling for people who experience noticeable heat retention.
Cover | Gray twill cover |
Comfort Layer | 2” LSA200 foam
2” low-density memory foam |
Transitional Layer | |
Support Layer | 6” high-density polyfoam |
Mattress Thickness | 10” |
The Leesa features a simple construction with a twill mattress cover and three layers of foam. It’s 10” tall, which is average for a foam bed, and the cover has a simple design and feels a bit like jersey to the touch. The top layer is 2” of polyfoam followed by the same thickness of memory foam. This order, which is typically reversed in foam mattresses, gives the Leesa a more neutral, accommodating feel than other memory foam beds. You’ll still feel comfortable, but the surface doesn’t have the viscous, sinking sand feel that’s often associated with memory foam mattresses. The base layer is a simple slab of high-density polyfoam, which supports the layers above it and gives the mattress its mid-range firmness level.
All three versions of the Brooklyn Bedding Signature have similar construction, featuring a cover quilted with polyfoam for a bit of added plushness, two layers of gel-infused proprietary polyfoam, pocketed coils at the support core, and a thin high-density polyfoam base. The feel—or firmness—of the TitanFlex comfort foam, which is gel-infused to promote cooling, varies based on the specific model.
The comfort layer of the Signature, TitanFlex, has the contouring properties of memory foam with the bounce of latex, so you’ll get a gentle hug but the mattress won’t form deep impressions or feel hard to move around on. The VariFlex transition layer, formerly called Energex foam, offers deeper compression support in the soft and medium versions, and it helps offer a firm, flat surface in the firm version.
The pocketed coils (called Ascension coils) at the base are a key feature to note. Because they’re individually wrapped, they distill motion much better on the bed’s surface than some hybrid mattresses. There are also high-caliber Ascension perimeter coils at the perimeter to enhance edge support around the mattress, so you can sit or sleep near the edges of the bed without a sinking sensation

Leesa offers free shipping to all 50 states. Shipping to Canada is also available. Mattresses ship via FedEx ground and usually arrive within seven business days.
The Leesa Original comes with a 100-night sleep trial period, so you’ll have a little more than three months to test it at home. The trial begins the day the bed arrives at your house, and after you’ve slept on it for 30 nights, you can return it for a full refund up until the 100th night of the trial. Returns are completely free if you live in the contiguous U.S., but customers in Hawaii and Alaska will be required to pay a $100 fee for returns.
The Leesa mattress comes with a 10-year limited warranty, which is standard length for the mattress industry. It protects customers against visible indentations deeper than 1” into the foam. It also covers splitting or cracking in the mattress caused by physical flaws, as well as flaws in the seams and cover. Leesa will repair or replace the mattress if a defect is confirmed, but you’ll be responsible for shipping costs associated with the repair or replacement.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature ships free to the contiguous U.S. via FedEx Ground. It typically takes around five business days for packages to be delivered. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, shipping via DHL starts at $125 per mattress. If you live in Canada, shipping via DHL starts at $250 per mattress.
After you purchase the Signature, you’ll have a 120-night sleep trial to test it out at home. If you decide you don’t like it, you can return your mattress for a full refund or exchange it for a different mattress and pay the difference. Brooklyn Bedding requires that you sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights prior to deciding to return it; this break-in period allows time for your body to fully adjust to the bed.
If you keep the Signature, it’s backed by a 10-year warranty, which is about average length for a hybrid mattress. The warranty covers defects or deterioration of the foam, splitting or cracking of the material, impressions greater than 1”, and noticeable sagging in an otherwise continuously supported bed. If a defect occurs during the 10-year period, Brooklyn Bedding will repair or replace the defective product.
Be sure to check out Brooklyn Bedding’s Warranty page for more info.

At the end of the day, the Leesa Original and the Brooklyn Bedding Signature are mattresses from reputable brands that feature high-quality materials and below-average price points. The right one for you will come down to a few factors. Do you want to choose your firmness level? Go with the Signature. Do you like a neutral foam feel? Go with the Leesa. If you want modest contouring and like a responsive, bouncy mattress, you may also want to opt for the Signature. If you’re dead set on an all-foam mattress and need something that feels good in almost any sleeping position and sleeps cooler than the average memory foam bed, go with the Lesea.
